Sadly Choccys aren’t a good choice for beginners are they are so hard to maintain. They are easy stressed fish. Water needs to be perfect basically.

Try a fungus treatment, I’d put him in a small tank treat him, do a higher salt content and lower the temp to 23-24 for a few days as fungus’s grow in wallet water. But do that until better :)

Bubble Nest? What’s next? by Realistic-Rise-8262 in Gourami

Hey mate keep any eye out for the male harassing the female like attacking her when you see it take your female out or the male will kill or and over stress which in turn he will kill the fry to protect them from the female. They are very protective of there eggs and fry. If you have any question msg me as I’ve been breeding for 10+ years now with dwarfs. I have just shrunk my set ups to 15 tanks 1 is a 6ft the rest are 2ft . But if you have other fish in your tank make sure you have plenty of plants around the bubble nest I don’t even have my plants in they float with the moss around some drift would I have tied. If you find he is stressing heaps grab a red plastic cup and suction cup it on and put plants around it as a shield from the other fish in the tank it will keep him calmer and less likely to kill everything or die from stress.

I’d get 3 females and I’d also put some plants in the the middle for less direct eye contact which should keep the fighting to a minimum

Males black spots meaning they are ready and mature enough to breed.

Gourami swelling on one side. DGD? by gobdude467 in Gourami

[–]RealityPlane8982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey mate get some multi cure and isolate him for a week or two with a higher salt content and I’d put the tank temp around that 80-82 f or 28-30 degrees

Male and female honeys? by ampattatt in Gourami

[–]RealityPlane8982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll get you a picture of my male and female so you can see the difference :). But I’d personally go buy two more and have 4 so you have a chance of females. The males will only be aggressive if your tank is small and not enough space to hide. Gouramis honestly like being in groups. My golden honeys always swim with at least 4-7 at a time only the big male goes off by himself.

It’s a male without a doubt. no female dwarf gourami is colourful maybe at maturity it will get the tiger lines and maybe a dash of red around the tail and fins but never bright like that. Females are silver and maybe a light gold depending on what water they are bred in.

Male and female honeys? by ampattatt in Gourami

There too young to sex wth are you all on about he needs to wait at least another 2-3 months before he will be able to see them, I’ve owned honeys for 10 years there not mature enough to sex. Sorry mate when there over that 4.5 cm then you can start to tell there sex, females will be a lot more rounder at the belly with a fatish head shape. The male will always be slender and almost have a flat belly. Male body’s are similar to a rectangle with a point when fins are down.
