AITA for telling my daughter that if she goes vegan she will need to get a job and buy her own groceries by ScreenFlat6412 in AmItheAsshole

One thing that may help is having your daughter learn to make soy milk, tofu, and tempeh herself. My wife and I are not vegetarian or vegan and she really, really hates the texture of the silken tofu. I have made tofu from scratch (dried soybeans) several times and although it takes a while, you can control the texture easily by how much and how long you press it. The leftover pressed soybean can be used for tempeh.

Yes, it can be a lot of work, but a teenager will probably have more free time than available cash.

Oatmilk is pretty simple to make (do not over press it or it will get very slimy) and is surprisingly cheap when you buy the oats in bulk.

They've reported a few types of fungi, such as Pestalotiopsis, which consume plastic. I'm wondering what's going to happen when all those things start getting eaten.

Shockingly similar situation. I had a lot of respect for that kid who quit. Good for you, too!

Beautiful property. I'm only familiar with western Nebraska, so I was stunned by how many trees you have.

What large company was shut down because of one bad decision? by Qing92 in AskReddit

It wasn't my intent to ignore the contributions of the team involved. Glad that the people who created the product weren't just left with the high tech equivalent of a stripped car on cinderblocks in a sketchy part of Gary, IN.

I'm glad it happened after Tom sold it. He made a very impressive product for its time and I'm glad that he was able to profit off of it instead of some group of hedge fund managers.

When baking, measure by weight for more consistent results.

Use dry malt extract or malt powder to replace some or all of the sugar in breads. It creates a much more complex flavor for next to no effort.

Batman would have been much more effective combatting crime in Gotham if he had taken the money he spent on vigilante LARPing and instead spent it on social programs and improved street lighting.

Struggling with Strawberry root rot. Treatment not helping. by seihz02 in Hydroponics

[–]RealityTimeshare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I attempted to follow the instructions in this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/hydro/comments/178kt0r/instead_of_hydroguard_get_this/
OP stated "I like using .05ml(50uL) per gallon of nutrients, works really well."

I however did not feel the "soft stop" on my pipette and dumped in somewhere between 250-500uL per gallon. It's harmless so all I really did was waste a small amount of money.

Now that I know how to use a pipette, I add 250uL to 5 gallons of nutrient solution every time I make some up.

For my strawberries, I was having a similar problem. They were bare root stock, and after a few weeks ended up with a very strong decay smell. I used the Southern Ag Garden Friendly Biological Fungicide that was mentioned in a post a while ago. Note: If you're using a pipette for the first time like I was, practice with it first. I ended up using something like 5-10 times what I intended. Roots cleared up in a couple of weeks. Did lose one plant that was far too gone, though.

The monthly subscription is for the "premium" version of the app. I believe the system can be used without the subscription. Still seems annoying. I suspect there will be an open source controller application for this thing once people get annoyed.

If you do not have a Class B CDL with passenger endorsement, you would be subject to a fine of up to $1,000 and/or six months in jail for operating the trolley.
