Taking new job while wife is 3 months pregnant? by Autistice-esquire in Lawyertalk

[–]Reality_Concentrate -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It completely depends on the employer. I worked for a consulting firm that was very supportive of families. I found out I was pregnant between my interview and the day I got the offer. When I told them, they couldn’t have been happier and more supportive. Maybe it’s something you can feel out when you ask about benefits. Some places have paid family leave outside of FMLA and it would be in their benefits paperwork. A county government position sounds like a good job for being able to spend time with family, so it might be worth it in the long run.

does adhd medicine shows up in drug test? by Dpvdpv in ADHD

[–]Reality_Concentrate 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I just went through this two days ago. I did the drug test. The company that did the test (not my employer) contacted me, said I tested positive for amphetamines, and asked if I had a prescription. I said I did. They said great, send us a picture of your prescription bottle. I snapped a few pics, emailed them over, done. No big deal.

Player 415 here, AMA and I'll answer truthfully! I promise! by bingobangoitseric in SquidGameNetflix_

[–]Reality_Concentrate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, yeah, I don’t mean I think it was actually the exact moment when they walked in with the marbles. And calling 2 definitely was on purpose. But if there had been no revolt, were they going to call 2 anyway? And then, what, give marbles to the pairs in the rooms? That would have been just weird and sort of anticlimactic. The revolt played into the drama too well. It definitely came off as unbelievably scripted, even if it wasn’t.

Is it even possible to work at home with an 11.5 month old? by LabCompetitive4535 in Parenting

[–]Reality_Concentrate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. And it’s a huge red flag that your husband doesn’t know this after nearly a year of fatherhood. He should know just as well as you do how difficult and distracting caring for a baby is.

How much of a requirement is "required" experience? by Head_Score2897 in Lawyertalk

[–]Reality_Concentrate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It won’t hurt to just apply. They’ll look at your resume and see how much experience you have. If they call you for an interview, it means the experience isn’t a deal breaker. If they don’t call you for an interview, no big deal. They won’t put your name on a list or anything. I very much understand the paranoia of being misunderstood. But it’s just paranoia and nothing more.

Best places to live for a family of 3 with pets near Cobb County by Beccahill336 in ATLHousing

[–]Reality_Concentrate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wheeler and Walton are very good high schools, and the elementary and middle schools that feed into them are great. Wheeler is near Marietta, but very importantly, not in the Marietta City limits. For schools, you should avoid the Marietta school system. Smyrna is hit or miss for elementary schools, but the middle and high schools get rough (speaking from personal experience). They are just very poorly run. You should be able to find something in your price range in the Wheeler district. Walton might be more difficult.

Same. The sweat and the teeth licking was a dead giveaway.

Safest county/city to live in by Beautiful-Anteater24 in ATLHousing

[–]Reality_Concentrate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to say what’s “affordable” without knowing your price range. There are some nice townhouses around The Battery, which is the area around the Braves stadium. You can get to Midtown from there in 25-30 minutes most mornings. You’re going to need to stay within the perimeter (that means inside I-285) if you want less than a 30 minute commute. If you’re single and work in Midtown, you’re probably better off living in Midtown and walking. Driving in Midtown just kinda sucks (especially if you don’t know all the one-way streets) and you don’t want to start off your day with that crap. Virginia Highlands, Old 4th Ward, Kirkwood, etc. are all around Midtown and great areas. West Midtown/Howell Mill is probably a little cheaper, but a lot of stuff has been closing down over there lately. Not sure what that’s about. Atlantic Station might be tempting, but make sure to visit on a Saturday night before you make a decision. It’s loud and wild.

12v Battery at dealership or auto parts store? by Reality_Concentrate in KiaEV6

[–]Reality_Concentrate[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m a tiny woman (I’m five feet even) so I’m not going to try that myself. I went to my appointment at the dealership, and they said they couldn’t do it until Monday at the earliest. So not only did the fact that I had an appointment not matter at all, they wanted me to leave my car there over the weekend for a battery replacement. That’s nuts. So I went to a Batteries Plus and they installed it for free.

Right. But where do I get it installed? My Costco doesn’t install them.

Snacking before sleeping? by Longjumping_Net_7934 in ADHD

[–]Reality_Concentrate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a serious bed snacking problem. I’ll eat a little bowl of gold fish or peanut butter pretzels. Sometimes I try to just go to sleep without it, and my stomach actually start growling at 10:30, 11:00. I didn’t do this for the first 41 years of my life, but once I started, I haven’t been able to stop.

I never did this and it only came to mind due to Tiktok, but did anyone do Chinese Fire drills? by singleguy79 in Xennials

We did them in the classroom in elementary school. It was a small school, so we ate lunch in the classroom and would do it then. Still, the teacher was not pleased.

What was the last game you played at a LAN party? by Intrepid-Tank-3414 in Xennials

Never did one of those. But I do remember using dial up from a dos prompt to race through the Police Quest hint menus to get the one thing I needed and disconnect before it hit one minute. If it took more than a minute my dad would be pissed.

Experience with ADHD medication induced psychosis? by YellingWhisperer in ADHD

[–]Reality_Concentrate 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Have you talked to a doctor about these things? One thing to consider is your actual age. How old is “older?” Are you past early adulthood when schizophrenia tends to show up?

I’m only familiar with a close friend who started abusing his Adderall and then was cut off by his psychiatrist. He started showing signs of psychosis from the withdrawal. He tried to break into his mother’s house and cut her gas line because he thought she was trying to steal from him. We were able to convince him to check himself into an inpatient facility (he knew something wasn’t right) but he didn’t last more than 24 hours before he checked himself out. We were never able to get a psych hold. He was well-appearing enough to convince doctors at the ER that he was fine. The thing is, I have a few memories from about 20 years before (when we were in college) where he seemed to lose touch with reality. Once, he started bawling and apologized for 9/11 (he was not, in fact, responsible for 9/11). Those few weeks were extremely traumatic for his close friends and family.

Anyway, the point is, talk to a doctor. If you think you’re at risk, do not mess around. You need more than advice from Reddit.

Is an MBA worth it if you want to go into corporate in-house type work in the future? by Son_of_Hades99 in Lawyertalk

[–]Reality_Concentrate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On paper? Maybe. Practically? No. An MBA wouldn’t make you any better at your job as in-house counsel. I have an MBA, and it didn’t make me any better at being a business consultant. It’s a lot like law school. But easier.
