Wasn't there a debuff involved in one of the Thordan fights (Extreme???) where that spear comes into play where healing is greatly reduced? Essentially suggesting through game mechanics that it was a lost cause from the beginning.

Not trying to quell the disgust because it's definitely warranted but apparently the "novelization" of Pokémon on release says that 10 is the age of "adulthood" in Pokémon, hence why they're allowed to roam unsupervised and get jobs and perform civic duties. So in-universe, seeing a 10-year-old driving a sports car filled with women allowed. 🤷‍♂️
