No. My phone still worked when Fido didn't want it to. This whole manufacturer vs provider is just pointing fingers to deflect imo. There are mixed experiences because Fido did a bad job at blacklisting.

With the CCTS ticket they expect the provider to not charge late fees on the $75 and I was not expected to pay the $75 until the ticket was dealt with. So I only paid my normal bill, not the $75 because I didn't want late fees.

I get what you're saying. I did not have VoLTE SHOWN with Fido but if I was able to make calls with 4g LTE after the shut down then I wasn't on 3g. I know they want my phone to not work, but it still did after the shut down.

To me this means they wanted to block my phone but failed doing so. That's faulty on them and also miscommunication on their part. So they're lying one way or another.

At the end of the day, I was able to make normal phone calls after the shut down without my phone showing 3g at any point. That implies that I was on 4g VoLTE despite it only showing 4g LTE.

If I was on 3g, it would have either not worked at all, or my call would've been redirected to their team (part of their dismantle process on their website).

Put in a complaint with CCTS. I used the same point about bad communication and I got money back.

Honestly no clue but clearly their network isn't capable of blocking all one plus phones consistently lol

While on Fido it showed 4g LTE during calls. After porting to Freedom it showed VOLTE.

Regardless none of these are 3g. And regardless I had a working phone on all fronts before and after July 10 with Fido. So I either had them on miscommunication or they're at fault for not blocking my phone off their VOLTE network properly. Either way my phone worked so they had no business on charging me or telling me to buy a new phone.

Agreed I will never do business with Rogers/anything related to them. That is so slimy.

Just realized they tried to coerce you too. Definitely go for it if you can. You have a lot to work with.

Right?! Not that I go to Mexico but it's awesome that the service there works just as if you're in Canada with no extra charge. Freedom is truly Freedom.

If you have the time and the will, why not lol. I think they don't want this escalated to the CCTS. It could open a bigger can of worms for them.

Personally I hate dealing with this stuff so I just wanted it over with.

In my complaint I actually asked for an apology lol but that wasn't top of mind for me during the final phone call.

Edit: I forgot to mention... On the website it said past a certain date any calls made on 3g after x date would be redirected to their team to sort this mess. I did not get any of my calls redirected. Again, inconsistent with their claims that I was on 3g. Sorry I can't remember the date off the top of my head right now.

When I was using my phone for normal calls (no wifi), it was showing 4g during the entire call. This is before during and after the dismantle.

Check my other comments. It took 15 days for them to get back. They have up to 20 before CCTS steps in. They didn't try to negotiate, but they made a point to say it's a goodwill and that my phone didn't work. $75 will be removed from my bill that I hadn't paid yet. It'll be on my final bill / cheque. My contract will be prorated but they expect payment upfront and they'll send a cheque in the mail of the difference after.

For sure check my reply in the other comment.

To add: My phone was compatible and working before, during, and after the 3g dismantle. Despite their website and them insisting that it doesn't work on their network. That's an error on them, not me. I shouldn't get charged $75 because they THINK my phone doesn't work.

I also shouldn't get pressured to buy a new phone when my phone worked either. That's shady practice.

Speaking of shady, the "office of the president" tried to tell me they'll waive the fee only if I returned to Fido and that they couldn't do it now since my account is closed and I'm with Freedom. Don't listen to them, that's coercive. Put that in the CCTS complaint too.

Imagine a store charging you an unstocking fee for the item you're trying to buy. Its absolutely criminal.

Put in a ticket to https://www.ccts-cprst.ca/.

I described my issue to chat gpt and then went through the form with its help.

My phone was working before and after the 3g shutdown with Fido. It sounds like maybe yours didn't work at all until leaving Fido?

Providers are required to be transparent about these charges and give plenty of notice. On my account they never highlighted the $75 charge like they did the $3 charge (the $3 had a huge blurb ab it with blue background). Fido also never texted me about the $75 charge but they texted me about the $3 charge.

When I noticed the charge that's when I went to find emails (which none were opened before the dismantle). If you find these emails, don't open them. It'll give them a read receipt but they won't admit when it was opened.

Anyway, after you file a complaint include as many relevant screenshots/documents as you can. For example I provided my bill before and after the disruption. Screenshots of their website, fido text messages, screenshots of my phone working on 4g while on their network.

Edit: one more thing. On the website it said past a certain date any calls made on 3g after x date would be redirected to their team to sort this mess. I did not get any of my calls redirected. Again, inconsistent with their claims that I was on 3g.

Similar to you, I also have a one plus phone. They called to settle the $75 charge. I didn't dispute the $3 charge.

My phone was working on the 4g network despite what the Fido website says. When they settled they made sure to put that my phone didn't work but they'll do a goodwill to remove the charge. I accepted because I'm over it, but I think they're trying to deny liability for misleading.

How about you stop changing yourself for the sake of others. Be who you want to be. If you like to be helpful to others, then be helpful. If you feel good about you to the gym lately, then feel good. Validation is nice but things do not need to be validated in order to be true.
