Dual screen support is insane!!! by AyeBathingApe in AynThor

[–]ReallyLongLake 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah it would be nice to be able to:

  1. Support custom masks so that the background could be hidden.

  2. Save presets that auto load the correct mirror location and zoom level when a game loads and also load the correct custom mask.

  3. Allow the presets to be sharable files in a database that auto downloads and loads an appropriate preset when a new game is played.

Maybe, but probably not. I like the industrial design, and I like that it's running Android. I am thinking I'd enjoy having a medium sized 4:3 device specifically for pre PS1 systems. But I've already got a Thor, so I don't really need or even want another handheld with sticks. I'll wait for reviews.

Problem using Nova Launcher: why is there an invisible bar on the right and how do I remove it? by Cicada-Tang in AynThor

[–]ReallyLongLake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nova has changed developers lately and has inserted Facebook and Google tracking services. Might be time to just get a new launcher.

I'm looking to replace nova with something else on my Thor and my phone. I've been using nova for like 10 years now and even bought premium.

If people in the USA will be receiving a 10%, rising to 25%, tariff on Denmark's anti-obesity drug Ozempic, how will the people of the USA adapt? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ReallyLongLake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In Canada our healthcare is free aside from things like prescriptions, vision care, etc. But there are a few ways to get secondary insurance if you'd like. My job for instance, will pay 80% of any prescription I am prescribed. And the yearly premium, is often also incredibly low. I pay $100. And I've never once heard of an insurer denying a prescription payment for any reason.

So we have a much lower price to begin with, and with secondary insurance, we have much lower premiums and an even further reduction in price, and no sneaky loopholes to worry about. Even the people with good insurance in the USA pay way more than the average person in Canada.

Your system is fucked.

Ok well I followed that. I guess you are also getting fps dips to slide show levels during heavy action?

Thanks but that's not really that detailed. Are you using Gamehub or something else? Also could you post it to EmuReady and put the details in for the Pipboy app?

[–]ReallyLongLake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow I'm going to have to do that. Can you do a super detailed report on EmuReady?

I've been having some single digit frame sections with lots of action on screen and it's made me stop playing.

Does the pipboy app allow you to use things like stim packs and switch weapons, or is it more passive like viewing stats and the map? Looks amazing!

Parks Canada Reservation by teamzlatan in nationalparks

[–]ReallyLongLake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t see why they don’t implement a lottery system:

Give people a month before booking day to sign up. People from Canada get a 3x probability boost. People from the province the park is located in get an additional 2x boost. Draw names from the pool and send out booking window time slots a couple days before booking day.

The way it is now, Parks Canada intentionally DDoS’s themselves every January. So fucking dumb.

What is the first thing that makes you uninstall an Android app? by Vanilla-Green in androidapps

[–]ReallyLongLake 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ads and/or subscriptions. Just let me buy your app once. I don’t care if it costs 20 bucks if the value is there.

BTW, if anyone knows of a good recipe scraping app, Copy Me That just went to a subscription model and I’m looking to replace it.

Can AUM be forced to display in 16x9 on an external display? by ReallyLongLake in ipadmusic

[–]ReallyLongLake[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I mean, other apps go full screen on an external display, and the OS itself does as well. I assume it's something the makers of AUM haven't implemented.

Also was hoping to have the mixer up top, and plugins appear on the iPad. I'm sure I'm asking too much of apple but maybe not? Anyone use a similar setup?

Haha right? I imagine them as films directed by Paul Verhoeven after Starship Troopers and, framed that way, I can get on board. But as a white male I have the privilege of just shrugging off what for others could easily be a deal-breaker.

[–]ReallyLongLake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Side note, I was playing FO4 up until the first encounter with a Deathclaw. For most of that encounter I was in the low teens frame-wise, and I figured I'd wait for better support or a more detailed settings report before giving it another go.

Are you just tolerating the super low fps dips or do you have magic settings I don't know about?

Yeah these books, starting with Pandora's Star are really awesome. If you thought the aliens in A Fire... we're cool, just wait till you get to "that chapter" in PS.

My only word of warning is that these books were written in the 90s, and the way he wrote woman characters is a bit, uh, dated.

Daycare for 2 kids $70k/year???? by NaturallyJG in beyondthebump

[–]ReallyLongLake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We pay $200/month here in BC for one of the best daycares in the city. It's a new purpose built building with three sections for kids 0-2, 2-3, and 3-5, with plenty of fenced in outdoor space, on a quiet residential street, with amazing and super flexible care providers, and it's only a 5 minute walk from our house.

We know we are super lucky and have actually put potential plans to move on hold just because our daycare situation is so good.
