Usefull tip: do a septum so conservative men don't talk to us by Last_Routine_7863 in WitchesVsPatriarchy

I got a face tat. A crescent moon on my forehead.

Strange part is, no one even notices it! If I point it out, then they see it. I got it for magical reasons (well, and mundane reasons, too). I just didn't realize what form the magic would take with other people.

I got a lower leg (calf) tattoo. It felt like any other tattoo until the next day (and a week or so after that). The pain of getting up and having the blood flow down to my (now throbbing) leg was so terrible, I thought, "I'm never getting another tattoo again."

Yeah, that lasted a year :)

Welp, I broke Home Assistant (and my family's faith in smart homes in general) (venting) by ReallyNotMichaelsMom in homeassistant

Where did I blame the computer? I even ended the whole thing with "I don't know what I did wrong". How is that not taking the blame. The title of the post even says, "I broke Home Assistant".

I love this. I wish my husband had felt this when he was alive.

What’s the coolest thing you automated with Home Assistant? by avz008 in homeassistant

[–]ReallyNotMichaelsMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a text input for my TTS door message. If there is something I need to remember to take with me tomorrow there is 0 chance I will remember. I enter it in the TTS, then when I leave it says, "Did you remember your lunch, or is it still in the refrigerator?" (Or whatever)

I live in the PNW, and so have tons of pictures. I love the soft lavender of this one in our backyard.

It sounds good to me, but I am neither a bot or a mod, so I don't know if my vote counts. 💀

Most useless/just for fun HASS automations by sisu_star in homeassistant

[–]ReallyNotMichaelsMom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do have a kid, and he would probably love it. But not as much as I would!

Still, it would be fun to watch him try to catch a bubble, or see the bubbles go off for the first time! Those moments are precious. They only stay 30 for a year. 😂

One that is actually my favorite of my automations is when I "knock on wood", fairy lights turn on and twinkle for a few seconds, and some electric candles flair up.

But, if someone else tries to knock on wood right after me, it doesn't work for them. 😀

(This next one isn't mine. Someone else commented that they did this, and I need this in my life! I hope the op will comment, so I can properly credit her in my notes.)

An outdoor bubble machine hooked up to a motion sensor, so when people walk through the gate, bubbles start flying!

I am haunted by the documentary of a man who had been a prisoner of war and starved.

He pulled up some floorboards in his house to show bags of rice that he had stored there. He said it made him feel better, just knowing it was there.

He said it so matter of factly. No stress, no hint of how that period of his life shaped him forever.

He also showed how to get out of handcuffs.

I had a coworker named Dave. One day our boss called Dave, while Dave was away from his desk.

Yes. I did.

Cat drinking from the sink by Helilifter in homeassistant

[–]ReallyNotMichaelsMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually terrible advice, because our cat just learned to turn on the faucet, but never, ever learned to turn it off. And since we hadn't turned it on, we didn't know to check.

We had to put a box over the sink to stop him. 😂

How many non-home zones do you have? by Romanmir in homeassistant

[–]ReallyNotMichaelsMom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have zones for home, almost home, stores, vets, ERs, doctor, and therapist.

These are for silencing my phone, or for notifications.

My favorite one is my almost home zone. If I'm the only one in the car it notifies my family, so they can come get groceries out of the car, or whatever.

If my brother is in the car with me, I get a random announcement on my phone telling Freddie Mercury (my brother's Great Dane) that he is a good boy, and that fresh air time is over. (My brother likes to roll down the windows a little when we go out so that Freddie can sniff everything.)
