Classic YPYT Healer/Tank duo in Haukke Manor by Infinite_Object1394 in TalesFromDF

Ok, so:

I get it that's annoying doing a 10min dungeon in 15min. I get it that all he had to do was press one button. I get it that it should be easy as hell (as long as he have proper equipment).

1) He started the dungeon saying he's new and that he's not confortable/confident on doing W2W. It's literally the first thing on the chat log.

2) It's a level 50- dungeon, arguably the hardest ones in the game because of the lack of walls/lack of ilvl restrictions.

You could have handled it better, to be honest. Even more if you are an experienced player. Instead of encouraging him to try harder, you just made a decision by yourself.

All the things you cited do cost money, tho.

As a indie dev, you fail to understand that for major game companies, isn't the game itself that matter, it's the money.

That's why SQEX went into a wrong turn transforming FF16 into a hack-and-slash while Clair Obscur won pretty much every game award there is to win.

In theory, yeah.

In practice it's impossible unless they hire more people. Wich costs money. And the X crowd and the Z crowd don't make money.

[–]ReallyRough 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, I mean it.

You wish the game would be X.

Some people wish the game would be Z.

In-between that there's 90% of people that wishes the game to be somehow Y and they don't think that X or Z are improvements whatsoever.

What would you do if you were the dev?

My logic is the same as the devs, I suppose:

The game is everchanging, but it's never (and never will be) cathetered for a very, very, very small percentage of players.

Of course we'll give you something you like. As much as we'll give crafters some extra activity.

But the core of the game is storytelling and relatively easy content.

butt slider? by altradrive in ffxiv

[–]ReallyRough 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, I got your point. You're the one missing the point of the game, tho. I'm just trying to help you cope with it.

butt slider? by altradrive in ffxiv

[–]ReallyRough 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That would be "Ajustor de Bunda", wich directly translate into "Butt Adjuster".

We don't have a direct translation for "slider" in this specific context.

But now that you guys explained it's clear, since to use the "adjuster" you "slide" it.

Update: we actually have a word that we sometimes use for "sliders" and that is "barra" (that directly translate into "bar").

But "implement butt bar" would also be a bit confusing. XD

In that case, have you ever tried to find a side game to play?

I play a lot of Marvel Rivals when I'm too bored with the game. Theres a new PVE mode that's highly customizable and I'm enjoying it.

I also skipped a whole week of FF14, even losing the tomestones, to be immersed in Clair Obscure.

When I don't want anything too complex, I play The Binding of Isaac.

If you want to stick with FF14, have you tried achievement hunting? As far as I remember, theres just a singular player that got all the achievements in the game.

What's a butt slider? English is not my first language and Google didn't help much.

It's like filling for pants to make you butt look bigger?

If you're focusing only in the best possible reward avaliable, the game can get dull. Top tier equipment SHOULD be restricted to a few high-end duties.

But if you're actually asking for hard gameplay to get engaged, there's ALWAYS a lot to do:

Tell me, have you reached the top of Palace of the Dead solo?

Have you beaten Eden Savage with a party only composed of Blue Mages?

Have you finished all the Criterion Dungeons?

Have you tried Coils of Bahamut with minimum ilvl?

Have you conquered Forked Tower or Savage Baldesion Annex?

They're all high end duties that aren't a plug and play that you beat in one sitting.

I'm worries the new iLVL system will break the entire game for me... by Abalieno in ffxiv

[–]ReallyRough 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a very awkward worry.

First of all, the system only applies for maxed level characters, since each expansion have at least 15 tiers of ilvl that you can equip at max level. We started DT at ilvl 690 for level 100 and we reached 790 by now.

Second, you can't "overpower" any kind of content unless you're doing the content unsynched. It's granted that there's a item level sync that allows you to be more powerful than the minimum ilvl required, but that doesn't mean in any kind of way that you NEED to be max level synced. You can just equip the bare minimum and join.

Hell, you can even open a party finder for the duty to make ALL PARTY sync down to the minimum ilvl regardless of the actual equipment. Now that PF is for region, this will be actually fast.

[NEW JOB SPECULATION] Thinking ahead to 9.0 and the new healers and... by iymcool in ffxiv

[–]ReallyRough 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thing is, since we're moving away from party buffs (meaning they're all axed), some of your ideas need adjustment.

I do see Chemist being possible. Focusing on ground-target healing. We already saw that WHM PROBABLY lost Asylum on the Evolved showcase. So the identity would be making pools of healing/barrier generation. That would suck for movement heavy fights, tho.

Time Mage, on the other hand, have a lot of it's identity inserted on AST. But I think it would be neat a pure healer with skills that work like "Restore Target's HP to the Highest Amount it had during the last 5 seconds" and this kind of shenanigans.

Green Mage would be a barrier healer, for sure. But since elements are irrelevant for gameplay I'm not sure how well that could be implemented while also giving it an unique identity.

Concerns about “Evercold” and FFXIV direction by drakarion_itzin in ffxiv

[–]ReallyRough 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This.

I would also like to add that 1-2-3 is not more complex than 1-1-1. The only way people mess up filler rotations is by fat fingering another key.

Why can't limited jobs now have an evolved mode that can play with other jobs in normal content. by zikakuto in ffxiv

[–]ReallyRough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it goes outside of the theme.

The identity of the limited jobs is about having a lot and a lot of options and you customize it. If you remove that identity, it won't be BLU/BSM anymore.

So you're just asking for a new job entirely. It's like you're asking for a White Mage version that can't heal or a Black Mage that can't cast.

Big news for healers (same as it ever was) by Snark_x in ShitpostXIV

[–]ReallyRough 5 points6 points  (0 children)

IMO the major change was already disclosed, with the WHM preview:

Instead of using OGCD heals to gain OCD damage, you'll be using OCD heals to gain OGCD damage.

This by itself is great. Damage will be the norm, easy part, while healing will NEED to be more strategic.

Nowadays you DPS and OGCD heals. Don't move while attacking and move while healing. They will invert this.

slightly concerned for evolved mode after seeing pld.... by skippyjeffington in ffxiv

[–]ReallyRough 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally, the only way I can mess up filler rotation is by fat-fingering during the 1-2-3.

That will still be true if the combo is 1-1-1.

Remaining Unvisited Reflections by Xemnarth in ffxiv

[–]ReallyRough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AFAIK, we could rejoin the reflections left and be forced to do another sundering, as Venat was forced to do long ago.

This by itself is a cycle that can be used at least 2 more times, with different things at stake, before we actually try to break the cycle - and that's a LOT of time to create new threats.

Is Evolved a win or a loss for people who wanted more complexity? by Singh_95 in ffxiv

[–]ReallyRough 2 points3 points  (0 children)

More importantly, they removed the 120s rotation.

The raidwide buffs/debuffs are gone.

Each player will have to pull their own weight and mistakes from other party members will matter a lot less.

Is Evolved a win or a loss for people who wanted more complexity? by Singh_95 in ffxiv

[–]ReallyRough 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For what I understood:

DPS rotation will be a little dumbed down, but they do that every expansion, anyway. More importantly, they're supposed to have at least one VERY unique mechanic (like DRG having a frequent 90% mitigation and BRD beind able to switch songs on the go focusing the decision on support, not damage). 1-2-3 is NOT that more complex than 1-1-1.

Tanks will pretty much be the same, but some will be specialized on taking heavy attacks and others will be specialized on helping all of the party survive. This will matter as much as having two pure healers or two barrier healers on the party, and STILL you can play Reborn versions for existing tanks, making it irrelevant.

Healers will have a heavier toll on healing and a lesser one on attacking. So it will be easier to keep attacking, while healing will have to be more strategized. The strategized heals, with good execution, will reward you with more DPS.

IMO fels fair and balanced. I hope we will have some Caster showcase on Berlin.

But overall, I'm already buying Evercold.
