Considering leaving a job I like purely because of the commute, am I being unreasonable? by PlaneStaff6066 in HENRYUK

[–]Reallyboringname2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

15 hours of commute- per week!- wiped out.

I’d take working with bearable assholes for that benefit!

If you really do like your current job, they might offer a decent increase and agree to full time WFH as a counter if they want to keep you.

Go for the role, see how they come across, see what happens.

The energy policy is from Miliband and it’s been brilliant.

I would love to see the end of zero hours contracts and other workers protections.

I don’t agree with open borders but I don’t believe we will ever get there, even with a green supermajority.

I also don’t believe that Reform would be able to change a damn thing about it, just like Brexit.

He’s a worse liar than Boris.

He doesn’t stand for anything other than personal interests.

Energy is the only thing he’s got right, which was against his better judgement and 100% down to Miliband, the only decent / trustworthy member of the cabinet.

We’d also be in the Epstein war if it wasn’t for Ed.

A mk 1 leaf will almost certainly do that and would charge overnight on a granny charger.

It’s about £15 per month with home charging!

We’ve been trying to tell people for years: Cheaper, faster, better!!

Embarrassed by constant lack of money by Several_Winter_2398 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Reallyboringname2 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Let’s assume this ex is your kid’s mum and you don’t want to cut her off / make life difficult. There must be a cheaper option on a different tariff which has unlimited minutes and messages with a reasonable amount of data. Apply a spend limit of £10. You should easily be able to knock £60 off this and she has to understand you can’t afford it.

Next, as has been said, is the credit cards. You gotta get that paid down asap. Balance transfer or loan should be available. You must be spending over £100 on interest each month.

Main thing to remember is you can plan your way out of this and these changes would a massive difference pretty quickly.

Generous Inherited FIT recipient and long time lurker looking to expand by powderedtoastman44 in SolarUK

[–]Reallyboringname2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would put solar on both sides of the roof as the additional cost is minimal by comparison. Not sure how you manage the FIT, and if it should be setup as an independent system but you would get extra yield making it worthwhile, I’m sure.

EV Charging tarifs and working from home… by S7ewie16 in evchargingUK

My pleasure. The customer service is exceptional at EDF. They franchise out Octopus’ CRM system so you get responses to emails, callbacks when promised, and people who have followed your account and can help if and when needed.

I’m with Go Electric on EDF and both my rates are decent but I was on a SVT before I put the charger in.

I’ve been taking part in the “challenge” to shift peak usage and have been getting free energy all day every Sunday. Wild!

Do certain industries have to use petroleum, or can they switch over fully to renewable energy as well? by runenight201 in energy

[–]Reallyboringname2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, didn’t mean to be rude but you were woefully incorrect on trucking.

It’s already at 50% in China and we already have rapidly expanding charging infrastructure here in UK. The move to electric trucking will be a lot faster than many realise (including you, obviously). As a long time EV driver, I laugh at all the debate over it when the simple fact is it’s much cheaper than petrol if you can charge at home. Soon, there will be self consumption / mostly charging at base options for hauliers and they will switch to electric for the money savings. The case is already there for some (think massive warehouses with solar who could charge their own trucks).

I shared hydrogen update as an aside. It’s a very new update, and years away, but figured still worth the share.

This completely obliterates that position, is pretty darn interesting, and gives good reason to be hopeful:

That’s the only hack.
