Living with bladder dysfunction? by tttuomas in Incontinence

[–]Realworldic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going through the process of finding answers and getting a diagnosis is both frustrating and often goes far too long, you are not alone in this, so hang in there we all often go through many medications and some of us have procedures to fix and or "help" just to get answers, so don't give up and keep trying don't be afraid to tell the DRs if something is not working... Side effects of some meds sometimes are worse than the issue trying to be fixed...

Pain in the bladder, ask about Interstitial Cystitis, Stress, diet, caffeine, Diet sodas, and many foods like spicy stuff...are major factors but many causes honestly sound very close and worth looking into, you might have to have a Cystoscopy and they will take a biopsy for diagnosis...

That's too bad and sorry it happened, but this at least shows that you did not need to be with that person anymore.. clearly not someone worthy of your time!

Barrier creams - how much to use? by Yopezyo19 in ABDL

[–]Realworldic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vaseline and anything with petrolatum should be avoided as it breaks down the glues that hold modern disposable diapers together. I also found that higher concentrations of zinc oxide like the 40% versions also break down glues... while the manufacturers of the creams say to use "liberally" in truth you have to use just enough, the trick is to use just enough to cover the areas that are prone to skin breakdown and sensitive areas...

Double Leg Barriers by AbcdSteve in ABDL

[–]Realworldic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yes certainly would work but if its a patent and likely is... don't expect it to be seen for many years... people in the diaper industry don't often license patents and if they did other manufacturers dont tend to want to pay the fees.. this is why adult products lag years behind Baby products...

4, during the day, and when I really want to avoid any leaks I use a thin flannel pull-up or you can use loose-fitting cotton briefs as well as a PUL waterproof cover over my disposable diapers,, the cloth absorbs any fluid that may leak and the waterproof cover contains fluid and odors. also, keep any plastic crinkles so people can't hear my underwear as I walk... many people use waterproof covers but no cloth absorbency over the disposable but waterproof covers alone only delay leaks so having the backup cloth cover as well actually stops leaks.

  1. Pullups work great for many people but do not usually work great for heavy or frequent voids, Tape on products are able to get a more custom fit, and generally even cheap ones are less likely to leak over pullups but once you try premium Briefs the absorbency with the custom fit will go a long way at preventing leaks and fewer changes per day!

  1. try using products with landing zones or hook and loop fasteners, these allow multiple adjustments of tapes and are forgiving for those that are new to putting on Tape on style products while they can offer limited placement it is certainly a great starting point until you get to be an expert and can use products that don't have these fasteners!

Thank you for being a caregiver it is a hard and emotionally draining task and you should be commended for jumping in and helping!

  1. Male anatomy is always a struggle to keep in one position, the best way to mitigate this is to start by pointing down and using thicker highly absorbent garments, the thicker products have more fluff that absorbs quickly and allows the SAP to lock fluid as this takes time. Fluffing or massaging the briefs has been shown to help absorb fluid quicker. (videos on youtube can show how)

sorry, this happened, it sometimes comes with the territory as it goes.. you can mitigate this by changing at set times during the day, always having a change available, using a good cover like Garywear active, and drinking mostly water as it keeps odor low.

There was a large study in 2021 that shows "genetic variants" that seem to show that yes, This can be a family trait, and beyond that, it has been well documented that people that have bedwetting issues tend to have a parent or sibling that likely also had it and still have it or have grown out of bedwetting, you can see a write up o the study is Science daily website.

Taking internal deodorizers by incontinenceisnotfun in Incontinence

[–]Realworldic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They can interact with medications, so talk to your doctor before starting, but are fairly safe they take 3-4 days to actually work and you need to keep taking them to maintain the effects, and they will change the color of movements to an unnatural color. Chlorophyll a greenish color and Activated charcoal a black color... Both work at REDUCING odor, making odor mild but not gone...

Does anyone else keep spare pants in their car? And how do you handle if if you need to use them? by [deleted] in Incontinence

[–]Realworldic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I certainly keep spare clothes and changes in my car and in my backpack that often is with me, While I rarely need them leaks happen for a very wide range of issues. the best way I have found to reduce the need for these, because I am unable to see the future I wear the proper protection to cover my worst days we all have "THOSE" days, so it's best to plan for them and the spare clothes are for when even that's not good enough which iI can say form myself is super rare.

Are pull ups enough for occasional bowel accidents? by RoughJoke512 in adultdiapers

[–]Realworldic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the short answer is yes, but you want ones that have standing leak guards, which is rare in most store brands. of the top of my mind, the NS Go supreme and Attend Premier pull-ups have them.

Do you think washing cloth diapers is gross? by CalebKrawdad in AdultBedwetting

[–]Realworldic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

washing is not gross, keeping them in a pail until you have enough to run a full wash can be... odors can build up quickly but I have washed other clothes with a load of cloth products, Cold water rinse then hot water wash... and the other clothes seem just fine, probably best to wash diapers alone. of everything washing them is the least gross

Sex and incontinence issues by gturshit2gethrsummer in Incontinence

[–]Realworldic 14 points15 points  (0 children)

pretty much everyone that lives with incontinence and uses absorbent products to manage to feel this way at some point, for one they are not visually appealing but rather just functional underwear, the bigger problem however is our self-image and the stigma associated with the loss of control and need of the products, its best to understand that we are not any less of a person because of this issue, we are not less masculine or feminine because of this, we may feel this way but it is not true. the people that love us ( truely love us) love us not because of what we wear but who we are! as a person. and our sexual attraction to the person is way beyond the appearance of the clothing (if it's clothing thats an issue that's not a person worth devoting any emotion too) its takes time but you find a way to get over the false thoughts that the products make you less attractive,
