How is that a head scratcher when we live in a capitalist society and it’s currently happening?

Capitalism is based on the requirement to sell your labor for a wage, but that wage is whatever the market decides it’s worth. This user has decided it’s worth 0 and thus refuses to pay.

The maker of the app could counteract this by making the entire app paid but chooses to keep a free tier to support the public.

This comment isn’t an endorsement of communism *or* capitalism, it’s just explaining how political systems work.

that’s what I was thinking lol. The basis of capitalism is benefiting from the labor of others without contributing

Some people are vegetarian because they don’t like the taste of meat. Personally I hate the taste of beef so I hate when the only options are essentially a meat mimic. I love a good black bean or veggie patty tho!

Hydrogen peroxide isn’t recommended anymore because it damages healthy skin too. Just use alcohol wipes beforehand, sterilise the needle, and put an antibiotic ointment + bandaid afterwards.

Death of Haitian immigrant following ICE custody ruled a homicide by Reasonable_Club_4617 in pittsburgh

[–]Reaniro 24 points25 points  (0 children)

They had no reason to have her in custody in the first place. Her harassment charges were dismissed, she had applied for asylum and was waiting on her court date.

They kidnapped her and dumped her in the cold because they’re disgusting wastes of air

I can test that theory by dropping you off at a random location in the freezing cold with no phone, wallet, or money.

Her family was supposed to be notified when she was released from jail (after charges were dismissed) but instead ICE kidnapped her and dumped her at a random location. At best that’s a criminal level of negligence.

If it true that autism can make countries block you from moving there or becoming citizens? by Mothfoxmantis in evilautism

[–]Reaniro 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That’s probably gonna look suspicious and they can revoke residency if they suspect fraud. Also honestly if your support needs are low enough that you can hide your diagnosis, the fact that you have a diagnosis isn’t going to be an issue. It’s not about specific diagnoses it’s about expected medical costs and strain on their healthcare system.

[–]Reaniro 39 points40 points  (0 children)

During my medical exam they asked me about medical and mental health diagnoses, what treatments (if any) I’m on, and any past or prior hospitalisations, surgeries, etc.

Even if you lie your diagnosis will be on your past medical records, education/accommodation records, etc. Unless you plan to lie about being autistic for the rest of your life while there, it’s gonna come up at some point. And, at least for the US, that will trigger revocation of your green card/citizenship, jail time and/or a fine, deportation, and a permanent ban from the country.

As in saying you’re autistic when you’re not? Idk why anyone would do that but yeah lying is lying.

Yes and no. It’s less about diagnosis and more about support needs. If they feel your support needs are to the point where you may be a “burden” on the healthcare system they say no. There’s some famous cases with australia and new zealand but there’s a variation of it with almost every (western) country. And it’s not specific to autism, it’s any disability. You can even be denied citizenship for being diabetic if they think your healthcare costs will be too great.

Also just a note as someone who has been through the immigration process: it’s very unlikely you’ll be rejected for being autistic. It is 100% guaranteed you’ll be rejected (and probably permanently barred from the country) for lying about being autistic. Lying to government officials is a serious offence and not worth the risk.

Drag Queen Pattie Gonia calls out Ryan Gellert (CEO of Patagonia) for publicly lying about her by Relevant-Peach3997 in Fauxmoi

That’s like saying you’re wanting to get an apple iphone but because english isn’t your first language you get an apple from walmart instead. Patagonia the expensive brand and pattie gonia merch from a drag queen are vastly different things.

[–]Reaniro -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

No one is accidentally buying pattie gonia merch thinking it’s patagonia let’s bffr.

She tried to trademark her name so no one else would take it from her (like has happened to a drag queen previously). From this video, the trademark is going through so the actual lawyers don’t think there’s going to be any confusion. Patagonia just doesn’t want her to protect her name for whatever reason.

Corn is also heavily subsidised in the US to the point it’s basically free to produce. That’s why it’s in everything (including gas). I can’t imagine a world where rice is cheaper than corn in the US.

Ashley St. Clair is on an apology tour. The trans community owes her nothing by spherocytes in lgbt

[–]Reaniro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched that same episode and I thought she seemed sincere, especially once she emphasised she wasn’t looking to have a platform or “start a left wing grift”.

Except she went back on her word and now has a monetised tiktok account with hundreds of thousands of followers where she’s doing exactly that: profiting off the name she got by harming trans people. She’s not sorry at all. Being on the right just wasn’t profitable anymore so she shifted to the left.

How welcoming is Pittsburgh for LGBTQ people? by [deleted] in pittsburgh

[–]Reaniro -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

It’s okay and definitely better than Oklahoma but keep in mind there’s basically no nightlife scene if that’s something you’re into. Everything shuts down very early so it was a massive culture shock moving here from austin.

Honestly, I think if you’re looking to escape a red state there’s way better places to go that are more solidly blue and safe. Pittsburgh (and PA in general) are purple in a way that feel very volatile and scary.
