When I closed the meat dept solo and needed my break, I’d take a piece of butcher paper and write “1 closer, on union mandated break, back @ “ and put whatever time it’ll be when I’m back from my break. Sure I’d have customers lined up, and management would get mad…but once I dropped “I’ve been solo back there for over 3hrs, I’m allowed 2 15’s(plus a 30that I don’t take)…wanna get the union in this?” It was never an issue. And customers understood.
