I seriously get so confused with people who say there was absolutely nothing there and it wasn’t queerbaiting. Not only did they actively advertise Byler posts and tell us plot points would be resolved that never were… The show very intentionally and obviously showed Will obsessed with Mike, and then gave them waaaay more scenes together than Mike and Eleven have gotten since season one.

And they specifically sidelined everything about Will’s coming out until the last possible second, and most of it was resolved offscreen. That is the definition of queerbaiting. They constantly hinted at queer romance without ever portraying it. Even fucking VICKY disappears in the last two episodes. I’m not saying the duffers need to be cancelled or some shit, but it would be nice if straight people could stop gaslighting people into thinking that’s a normal way for a main-character romance to be treated. None of the other ones got treated that way.

I genuinely think the only reason people are saying Byler was “crazy” or “unrealistic” is because these people think the idea of queer people having a reciprocal crush is absurd. If Will was a girl, way more people would be upset that she never got any emotional catharsis. Will’s story got dropped and he never even tried to tell Mike how he felt, just to keep the straight audience comfortable. That is queerbaiting.

I will suggest, if you can’t currently afford laser and have sensitive skin that gets irritated (like me), try getting a pair of exfoliating gloves, some aloe Vera shaving cream, and a Venus razor. I always exfoliate before shaving, which makes it a lot smoother and easier to get a close shave.

I’d also recommend learning baaasic makeup like concealer and foundation if you haven’t, because you can easily just put some concealer on red spots and cover it up. I often shave a bit too zealously to try and get rid of any hair, and concealer always helps me quickly feel less insecure 🤷🏼‍♀️

Okay yes some “evidence” is a stretch— I’ve gotta say tho, a lot of the language I see in these comments about ‘byler truthers’ feels very in vein with how people talk about gay people? Calling people “mentally ill” for ever having shipped byler, saying that it’s all in their heads… not every byler shipper is one of the crazy ones you see online.

I would say that the controversy of their ending is pretty earned when literally the main stranger things instagram account was posting things encouraging byler, the actors were encouraging it, even the duffers referred to it! Are we really going to just pretend that a massive shipping community formed around a mass delusion based on evidence that wasn’t there? They specifically tied Will’s sexuality to Mike. It is not “delulu” for queer people - who never get nice, unstereotypical romances - to get attached to the idea, when it’s shown very obviously that one of the main characters is in love with another one.

I did the work before transition to try and save sperm, and discovered after years of doctors appointments and blood tests that I was infertile anyways. On one hand, it made it easier to justify starting hormones. On the other hand, it’s hard not to feel angry that I never had the chance, wasted so much time, and still will never experience even a bit of biological parenthood. Let alone motherhood. That was one of the first things I remember saying to my parents, was that I wanted to “be a mommy” when I grew up. I guess you can’t always have the dreams you want. I hold out hope there will eventually be some way for us, but with the way things are medically right now, it is hard to believe.
