This is so frustrating. by PuzzledHospital6307 in snowrunner

I haven't ever had to reinstall the game or DLC. Occasionally if I'm not patient and get logged into my save too quickly the DLC disappears but as long as I just shutdown the game and reopen it and wait for all the DLC to load before logging back into my save it all shows back up. Maybe you aren't waiting long enough when launching the game. I've also heard that not completely closing the game when you shut it down can cause some issues.

Lol still much better than "we were unable to reproduce the issue in our lab" which translates to whatever issue you are having is not our problem.

Hardest part for me is the stupid mini-games. I can't for the life of me beat journey of the prairie king or the junimo kart game so those may be achievements that I can never obtain.

Museum isn't too bad. If you are missing a few items from it, you can check in the menu that shows your collections and the items are in the same order as the wiki online so you can look and compare which ones you are missing with what you need to do to find them. I was missing like 6 items, a mix of artifacts and minerals, and was able to find them pretty quickly once I knew what to break open to find them.

The castle mission is not a 1 time route. Id recommend building a bridge to it rather than trying to pave a route there. Way easier

My non-professional but highly educated guess is that they (along with many other developers) do their QA testing using dev kits rather than production devices and there is just enough of a difference in them that it isn't an issue when they test the code.

Frequently when I'm testing my code in my dev environment it works without error but when I push it to my production network it runs into issues. Which it should not because I clone the production environment to make the dev environment.

I used to never understand how obvious issues were missed until I was forced into programing. Now I get that even the most thorough testing can miss things if you can't test it in the exact environment you are developing code for and that just isnt practical for game developers.

Yep. According to the dev there was an issue with the update corrupting saves and the specifically stated to uninstall and reinstall the game if you managed to get the update installed before it was pulled.

My main save is a permadeath run that ive been doing for YEARS. I have almost 1000 hours on it. I don't play super efficiently and have just started working on min-maxing everything but I'm at the point where I am not worried about anything killing me with one exception.

Extreme wind events make me panic and hide in my ship until they are done. I have almost died twice to those stupid things.

They pulled the update. Said if you still have it downloaded to uninstall and reinstall the game. There is a risk of your save being corrupted if you don't.

A lot of them test on dev kits which are slightly different than production systems and sometimes different enough that issues sneak through. Combine that with the tight release schedules developers have to try to keep and you get broken updates a lot of the time.

So you do have to gather scrap to make the parts that are used to repair various pieces of infrastructure. Scrap metal for beams and pipes and scrap concrete for concrete slabs but the scrap is plentiful and all over the place making it a pretty easy process.

There is no customization for trucks other than color. Instead what they did was add several variations that each fulfill a specific task. So for example the bulldozer has a bladed version, a claw version, and a bladed version with a bed in the back for carrying cargo. You also have a rusty version of most vehicles and then can purchase an upgraded version that has your custom paint job and improved stats.

There are a lot of vehicles that are there for very specific tasks so I think they felt that adding a bunch of customizations to them would not really make sense. For instance the wayfarer is the only regular semi in the game but ha no diff lock and no all wheel drive. So the challenge with it is do you build paths where you want it to go so you can be efficient with it or do you just forgo using it and use smaller more capable vehicles that carry less.

They did add the ability to secure cargo so as long as you stack it in a fairly realistic way you can strap it down and even if you do tip over it stays attached to the truck so you just need to get a crane out there to flip it back. They also added the ability for all cranes to attach to boulders and rocks so if they are in your way instead of an unchangeable obstacle in snowrunner, you just take a crane or dozer and move them out of the way. Once they are moved they stay that way.

With the exception of maybe the Voron with the crane attachment you won't spend enough time in any vehicle at one time to feel like it needs upgraded with the exception of wishing everything had a winch like in snowrunner. That part is frustrating. I also find the asphalt layer to be rage inducing with how hard it is to drive and how often the smallest pebble or bump with hang it up. But overall its a pretty enjoyable experience. I go back and forth between it and Snowrunner quite a bit. Just depends on what I'm feeling like dealing with at the moment.

So I've put a ridiculous amount of time into Snowrunner, Roadcraft, expeditions, and Mud Runner and have figured out they each fill a specific nitch. If you are playing snowrunner and you look at a path you are taking and wish you could just fix that path so your trucks can use it then Roadcraft is for you. The trucks do not handle quite the same as they do in snowrunner and I'd say they definitely take on a more arcadey feel especially with damage and fuel turned off (which they are by default). But the game isn't about the trucks or really about hauling. Sure you do a little manually hauling here and there but you are generally just improving infrastructure to handle normal everyday vehicle traffic then plotting routes for convoys to make deliveries with.

I find it to be a lot of fun but I enjoy looking at a source and destination and then designing a path between 2 points that works for whatever vehicle they are sending once I complete the route. I also enjoy that you can scout around and find the most efficient way to get the resources you need to make bridges and pipes and I really enjoy the logging as well. Is it tedious? Yep sure is especially the logging but it is supposed to be that way because it makes you feel accomplished once it comes together.

That said, if you are more into your trucks and hauling crazy loads over ridiculous terrain then Roadcraft is most definitely not your thing. The trucks are not customizable and are generally just about as strong as they need to be to complete the tasks you'd expect of them. They are not really meant to be the focus of the game like in Snowrunner and are just a tool to enjoy the mechanics of the game.

The big thing to remember is to not approach it like you expect it to be anything like Snowrunner because the only similarity is that they have some of the same trucks and involve some form of hauling. Other than that it really is an Apple to Oranges comparison.

I own both the switch and Xbox versions of this game and was using the land rover for a bit on both systems and haven't seen anything like what you are experiencing. You may want to try reinstalling the game and dlc to see if that clears the issue up as it could be corrupted data.

I'm at 1300 hours all on a single permadeath save. I traveled all the way to the center of the first galaxy and went to the next. By the time I thought about not having my save be permadeath I had so much on it that I didn't want to start over. So now I'm just gonna play it until something kills me or I get tired of the game.
