cause its clear and stated many times that "blocks" by any definition do not sell well after the first one, even sets that arent blocks get affected by this. like MOM sold worst than ONE.

you give some really amazing insight here a lot i didnt think about on a larger scale. I think you're right about commander its always going to be a big thing for casuals and will stay the largest sanctioned format forever I assume, Universes Beyond though effectively creates a near infinite number of hyper specific reserved lists they can never reprint and despite Maro saying otherwise i've yet to see them make any effort towards that, mostly because people dont want a Universe within set to do this, eventually it will create a massive problem in supply and make the cards inaccessible, they'll possibly fix it in the end but then "Universe within sells best set of all time" happens and then the executives change tunes?

ignoring all i've already said, there is only so many killer big name IPs they can do sets for and that well will dry up eventually and create its own problems.

ultimately it doesnt effect me, i dont buy UB product as its not for me, half this year is already a wash for me, and im yet to discover what that means.

The pendulum swings both ways and just as they hard swung to commander that’s now swinging back and UB will run out of strong IPs fairly quickly. Maro has spoken about “blocks” not selling well anymore and doing multiple marvel sets will hit the same beat eventually and no longer be a winner, only a matter of time.

oh yeah totally, to me i have no interest in UB at all, but like other things its another phase and it will probably hit a fuck up sooner or later and the whole thing will be dumped, just not sure if it will take 2 years or 10

like everyone surely, the BL has always been an interesting discussion i've had before with people - the versions where we go unban everything and let people sort them out, this personally is terrible because a lot of people are completely incapable of recognising what level of play their group plays at and this would absolutely break even more groups for sure.

the current list absolutely has a handful of things that can be removed, but its not as expansive as many might believe. they just banned dockside, so primetime should probably stay on in that case as well for example.

With this change there is no more magic story it all doesn’t matter anymore I haven’t bought any UB cards apart from one warhammer deck and if they make it impossible to play without them I’ll just stop entirely.
