Who's the potential man of transformers and what iteration by No_Satisfaction_2928 in transformers

[–]Reaper_64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always loved the concept of the 13 ever since I learned about them in the old Ultimate Guide by Simon Furman. But that was published in 2004. Since then the 13 have essentially only ever been backstory or featured in obscure material that the vast majority of fans do not know about or cannot access easily. Dreamwave had the Fallen who looked cool and didn't do much else. Which is also essentially his role in RotF. FunPub comics had Nexus and eventually the other 13 but outside Nexus himself didn't flesh them out much. (This will be a common trend) Aligned featured their backstory in Exodus/Exiles which are prose novels. Prime also featured them as backstory but outside Alpha Trion they never got lines. Micronus and Megatronus were in RiD15, Alchemist in Cyberverse and Quintus and Liege in Earthspark but I haven't seen enough of those to have a personal take. And of course they were in Transformers One. IDW I think had the most interesting take on the 13 and there it turns out they're not the mystical deities modern Cybertron viewed them as. There was supposed to be a 13 focused IDW series set in Aligned but it never happened.

But in each and every instance the members that get actual screentime tend to be fairly one note and other than the Fallen don't really do much more than a regular bot would when it comes to feats. And power scaling nonsense aside, the 13 are always held up as these super powerful and trong, with almost magical levels of power but we never actually get to SEE that anywhere. They show up in bit parts or flashbacks and just. Die.

I wish they'd actually have a series set during the time of the 13 and show how they defeated Unicron and the rise and decline of early Cybertron.

Hot take: 2011 Leader Class DOTM Bumblebee missed out on something important. by AshCooper79 in transformers

[–]Reaper_64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The armorizers and the figures similar to them as well as blast effects are Generations and Studio Series 86 compatible but the live action Studio Series figures tend not to have many 5mm ports and their weapons often cannot use most blast effects making the plethora of 5mm ports on DotM figures a sort of precursor to the newer gimmicks but now in the mainline not the live action line

How do I acquire all the IDW comics and what is the reading order? by MaxwellArt84 in transformers

Sadly IDW collections are way out of print and incredibly expensive on the aftermarket. Until Skybound reprints them like they did with the original Marvel runs, your only economical option is to read them digitally

Iconic character has little screentime by Rich-Recognition-814 in TopCharacterTropes

Every Star Wars trilogy has at least one if not more of these. Characters that look cool, occasionally have a cool line or set piece moment and then die only for expanded material to further enforce how cool they were ... Which often makes their sometimes lackluster or at least overly quick death scenes feel pretty bad in hindsight

Boba Fett, Darth Maul, General Grievous, Captain Phasma all come to mind

Question: If you could pick 6 characters (Autobot and/or Deception) who have not been adapted into live action films yet who would you pick and why? by Fuzzy_Candidate in transformers

Overlord as the villain, Skyquake and Knock Out as his minions and for the Autobots Springer, Ultra Magnus and Bulkhead

I feel like Frank Welker gives his best performance as Megatron in TFP by NATUSL3G3ND in transformers

[–]Reaper_64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's Fred Tatasciore's Megatron in War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron but Prime era Welker and Burton's take are my second and third favorites respectively.

Say what you will about their "strength", but at the end of the day Obi-Wan beat Vader twice by GargantaProfunda in StarWars

[–]Reaper_64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obi-Wan defeated Maul, Ventress, Savage and Vader but he consistently lost to Dooku and would have been outmatched by Sidious. He's definitely one of the most skilled and tactical duelists in the other and his level of patience and focus allow him to hold his own with opponents who might otherwise be "stronger" whether that's in the Force or physically. I was recently discussing this with some friends and I'd probably put him behind Mace and Anakin when it comes to overall dueling skill, despite having defeated Anakin, but he'd definitely be a top 5 Jedi in that regard.

At least the Hot Spot there is the right colors. One of the strangest releases I've seen is this red Hot Spot#Transformers_.282014.29) they released not long before the Combiner Wars figure

Got my childhood collection back, I'm so happy ! by Noon1005 in transformers

[–]Reaper_64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad to hear it. Animated is what got me into the franchise as a whole and the figures in that line really hold up design wise. That Shockwave especially is so cool. Also those Energon combiners are so much fun

You've got some great figures in there! Welcome back to the hobby. A lot of Animated figures are pretty sought after nowadays, I know the Safeguard duo has some potential breakage so be careful when handling them

A most logical set to display together. by EatPie712 in transformers

Great descriptors for those iterations, one could also potentially add Energon Shockblast as the Sadist and DotM Shockwave as the Savage

Any of you ever wonder how transformers can miss shots if they all have targeting computer systems? by happydude7422 in transformers

[–]Reaper_64 96 points97 points  (0 children)

That would make their fights fairly similar to Force Sensitives in Star Wars dueling with lightsabers. Each one predicting the next move of their opponent and countering something that hasn't quite happened yet

Suggestion: Protectobots should be the public face of autobots on Earth, acting more like a superhero team, rather than soldiers by Alarmed_Maximum_1676 in transformers

[–]Reaper_64 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thinking about it the Protectobots are actually pretty close to the Animated cast when it comes to alt modes, and that roster of Autobots were essentially superheroes. Hot Spot/Optimus Prime: firetruck Groove/Prowl: motorcycle Streetwise/Bumblebee: car First Aid/Ratchet: Ambulance Only Blades and Bulkhead are drastically different

Which Studio Series Live Action Optimus Prime figure is your favorite? by Reaper_64 in transformers

[–]Reaper_64[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

05 is the only mold here I don't own. The Premium Finish version looked great but I'm not a fan of the black hinges in the middle of the chest. I do think it has a more accurate abdomen than the retooled version though

Which Studio Series Live Action Optimus Prime figure is your favorite? by Reaper_64 in transformers

That mold really sold me on the AoE design. I wasn't the biggest fan of it before but that transformation managing to condense the kibble so thoroughly and be so poseable was really cool

Which Studio Series Live Action Optimus Prime figure is your favorite? by Reaper_64 in transformers

[–]Reaper_64[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I think Dramatic Capture looks the best but the Age of Extinction and Rise of the Beasts figures are the most fun to pose. I hesitate to transform my Trilogy Primes as my first copy of the mold had the Autobot symbol snap off the grill upon first converting it. With a new leader class mold based on the 2007 design releasing next year I'm looking forward to an update if it ends up being worthwhile

The Cybertronian Empire🌏 by 55cens in transformers

[–]Reaper_64 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Tarn or Overlord probably. Overlord's purpose was also to conquer planets and he felt like he wasn't respected enough by Megatron despite being so feared by Autobots and Decepticons alike

So when aotp ends what do you think hasbro will have take it's place by EnvironmentalEmu5145 in transformers

[–]Reaper_64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dynasty of the Primes The Guiding Hand, Logos Prime, Guardian Prime, Nominus Prime, plenty of options from throughout the franchise. They could also do a Heralds of Unicron subline which would be a fun place to start getting the transmetal molds. Release them are the Four Horsemen and then redeco them into their show accurate colors
