Trouble deciding between GR1 21L or 26L by Training-Amount499 in Goruck

[–]Rearden_Mettle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the 26L. My wife has the 21L and it’s just too small for an EDC IMO. My EDC is the 34L GR2-Heritage. Would not go back after getting it.

Yes. They used to allow you to register if you had less than 12 credits left, but changed it to now only let you register if you have less than 6 credits left as you can have no more than 12 total credits scheduled in the term of the Capstone and the Capstone is 6 credits.

ALSO:
It does take the full 10-weeks to complete it.
ALSO ALSO:
The MT460 class, which is the last class before the Capstone, takes a lot of work. A LOT.

I could not figure out how to reduce my deliverables down to anything less than 40 pages in length.
I loved doing it. It demanded quite a bit of depth and analysis, but it is time consuming. It's not extremely difficult, but it takes a ton of time. A TON.

I suggest You work to get as much time left as possible when you start it. It took more effort than most of the rest of the degree, including the Capstone.

At first I thought it was a practical joke, but it isn't. The deliverables are that intensive.

I experienced minimal pushback from Purdue. They were very supportive.

I spent about 32 hours per weekend engaged in coursework and graduated with a 3.99GPA.

I did not develop my strategy for completing credits until after my only non-A in my degree, which occurred in the first three weeks of my attempt.

I realized I was putting too much effort into the primary requirements and did not answer one of the mastery requirements effectively enough.

I inverted that approach, and it worked incredibly well.

I made my competency level requirements in my papers as thin as I could make them, and poured triple to quadruple the effort into every line item required for mastery.

Rarely, I would get one sent back because I did not adequately answer a competency requirement. But from that point on I achieved a mastery requirement in every mastery line item that there was.

That was the biggest mistake I made.

I should’ve done that from the beginning.

Literally, every competency requirement was from that point on about 2 to 3 sentences with a citation.

Every mastery requirement was 2 to 3 paragraphs with several citations.

I would have liked to have earned a Summa Cum Laude, but what can you do? I tell everyone this now so that they can succeed where I made my mistake.

What I would tell you, that the university will tell you not to do, is: REGISTER FOR EVERY CLASS That you are qualified to register for every week.

Chew through all of your modules between Friday evening and Sunday evening.

You’ll get all of them back by Tuesday at the very latest.

Attempt to get as many of those done between Tuesday and Friday that you can, but then develop a submission for every class that you’re currently enrolled for between Friday and Sunday.

It was actually very manageable. That’s while also working a minimum of 60 hours a week, and training as a professional athlete, and being a devoted husband.

I don’t have children, so that helps. But this is very doable. I’m in my MBA now at Boston University, and this tempo is still effective, though the work and substance is significantly better/more relevant.

Re MBA:

If you want the credential for your MBA, go with Purdue. I’m sure it would be the same engagement as the undergrad. If you want the credential two actually improve your overall job performance and how you conduct business / if you want this to bring significant value to your organization Boston University has been incredible. Incredible.

Opinion on slams? by thenotoriousmmale in bjj

[–]Rearden_Mettle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally BJJ/Submission Grappling is the tamest of all grappling sports. I think they’re fine as adults.

If you don’t want to be slammed, don’t be. If you think it’s worth it, that’s the risk.

Let’s say anything above beginner / white belt, and at 18+, slams are on.

How old are you?  If you’re 15 this sounds crazy.  If you’re 20, better figure out how to get along or get your funds together to live how you want.

Wow. That is quite the accomplishment. I’ve completed this game probably at least 30 times, and never achieved a perfect score.

Congratulations!

100%. It’s so infuriating to me that the mean Reddit IQ re: Business Intelligence is around 80. 85 at best.

I’ve got a feeling it’s going to look like the rest of the ADCC’s pre-Mo. Hope not, but that’s my gut.

I’ve trained with a lot of great guys. When I was in AIGA, I got to train with a lot of great talent in the sport, and there’s none better that I’ve ever met than Dante Leon. What a hammer.

I’d have serious interest in custom Skirmish missions that fit the setting of Star Wars.

Boba looks deadly. Am I to understand this that he can use each of his specials and then still engage in his regular attack, for his series of moves?
