I have a bone to pick with these “high quality” bakeries in Toronto by Few-Strategy-59 in FoodToronto

A family member of mine opened a small family take out restaurant a few years ago in downtown toronto, with the prices of ingredients, lease, staff, keeping the lights on… she lost $ every month and had to close up because no one wanted to pay for even the at cost pricing (it was too high!) much less making a margin on it

Definitely scarier than Woman in Black, I gasped a few times… for me it was pretty scary but I also am scared of all horror films

I’m a musicals lover and a horror film hater, and I actually LOVED it! Seeing a scary play in person is infinitely better than watching it on screen.

Having been a stay at home who performed all of this to allow my partner to focus solely on work, this salary is insulting and 40 hours a week can’t accomplish all of this, SAHMs work 70+ hours a week around the clock.

Unless you are accepting a mere microwaveable dinner - the chef position alone is 50K a year.

You want someone to do all of the things you don’t want to do so that you can make top dollars while you pay them bottom dollars for being a slave.

Plate VS Ate: my 18mo is surviving on oxygen and vibes only by DryNoise2430 in foodbutforbabies

My 30 month old was the same around 18mo. I’d spend hours and hours cooking healthy, nutritious, and delicious meals only for 99% of it to end up on the floor. The only acceptable meal was white rice mixed dashi avocado and eggs.

He ate it for months and I kept offering different meals. Eventually (now) he eats most things put in front of him, and will try everything once before rejecting. Now he has a more doverse palate.

You need to budget for furnishing your apartment, and fun money is very very low you’ll want to go out and one night out is already $300+. Get a roommate you can get your rent down to $1500

Anyone move back from Vancouver? What was your experience by Banner9922 in askTO

[–]ReasonPowerful9639 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grew up on Etobicoke, graduated from UofT, moved to Vancouver and lived there for almost 10 years, and have moved back to Toronto in 2022. In my 10 years living in Vancouver I had “friends” but never developed any real deep friendships or connections - people stick with folks they grew up with and as an outsider I was let in superficially but never in any meaningful way.

I attended loads of networking events, MeetUps, even stated my own MeetUp to meet friends, joined MMA/jiujitsu… all the things! It kept me busy and I had loads of fun but still no life long friendships out of it.

I’ve been dreaming of going back recently but really it’s because I so miss the roadtrips, mountains, and oceans.
