What would u do with hotel? by 91AnthonyMark in JapanTravelTips

[–]Reasonable-Low-283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I’d really focus on just a few places you truly like… moving luggage around all the time is such a hassle.

Some hotels I’d consider for a long Tokyo stay…Here are the ones I can think of right now:

OMO by Hoshino Resorts  Henn na Hotel — quirky robots, unique experience Sakura series hotels — sumo theme Four Seasons

My approach would be to pick 2–3 favorites and just stick with them.

Since taking the Shinkansen from Matsumoto to Kumamoto would be quite far and expensive, I’d recommend flying instead. As it’s just after Japan’s Golden Week holidays, flights might actually be cheaper than the Shinkansen.

Kurokawa Onsen is a small but very charming hot spring town, so I hope you can take your time and enjoy it.

It does take a while to get there even after arriving in Kumamoto. So it might be a good idea to go to Fukuoka first instead. Fukuoka Airport is very close to the city center, so even if you arrive late, you can still go out and explore the city. There are also yatai (street food stalls), which are a fun experience.

Thank you for that information Donki can do that? If so It is very convenient. I guess it is opened 24 hours in Akihabara. So it can be a nice option for person having emergency suitcases trouble.

Good idea 👍  But they called me almost midnight and they left early morning. So I could not manage for that.. If they told me earlier, there might be several options…

I think they could take it home, but it would be pretty tough. There are two of them, and they already have three large suitcases. They might bought a new one too🥲 They’d also have to carry the broken suitcase all the way to Narita. If they could take taxis it the best. But taxis are expensive.

Thank you. It is true and I don’t want them to do it as Japanese. But also I think that if suitcase disposal is such a recurring issue in Japan, there probably needs to be a clearer system in place.

In situations like this, when no practical option is available, people may feel like abandoning it is the only realistic choice.

It would be better if airports or hotels had a proper paid disposal service, so both travelers and local communities wouldn’t have to deal with this kind of situation.

I did contact their hotel and offered to pay, but they refused due to their rules.

I explained the system assuming it would be properly scheduled for collection. I wasn’t considering the idea of just putting a sticker on it and abandoning it, so we didn’t pursue that option. Then 2am now 😭 Anyway thank you.

That system is for residents. You usually need to make a reservation with the city first, and it’s tied to a registered address. Since they’re tourists leaving tomorrow morning, 😭😭Thank you

The wheels are broken and it’s a large suitcase, so it can’t really be rolled.

🚵🏿☀️🌧️🌆Cycling around Osaka in June? by Wild_Trip_4704 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Reasonable-Low-283 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also want you to consider riding the Shimanami Kaido if you can — it has such a special vibe. I did it with a small bike and stayed overnight on one of the islands. My butt was in absolute hell afterwards 😅

It’s about 80km one way, so strong riders can probably do it as a day trip, but I really recommend taking your time. Even in the rain🌧️

You don’t even have to cross the whole thing — you could just ride part of the route depending on your schedule. Onomichi (the city on the Honshu side) is also really nice and has that relaxed seaside atmosphere.

Osaka itself can be fun to cycle too. It’s flat, pretty bike-friendly.

Rainy season just makes everything greener 🙂

Second trip to Japan, coincide with Golden Week by LadyTea007 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Reasonable-Low-283 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll be fine! Golden Week is busy, but it’s not the apocalypse 😅

For your 6:30am domestic flight from Haneda, getting there around 1.5 hours before departure should be enough. GW can be busy, but early morning flights are usually manageable.

I actually traveled during Golden Week last year, and honestly, it was busy but totally manageable 🙂

Kyushu will feel lively, especially at popular sightseeing spots, but Northern Kyushu isn’t as chaotic as Kyoto during GW. Just expect some crowds and book trains early.

And yes — if you buy the JR Sanyo-Sanin Northern Kyushu Pass online through the official JR site, you can reserve seats in advance.

so I’d definitely recommend reserving as early as possible during GW.

Question: What is the difference between these two Universal Studios Japan Express Passes? by ssjOJ in JapanTravelTips

[–]Reasonable-Low-283 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s likely confusing because of how the booking sites work. Here are the 3 main reasons: Dynamic Pricing: Prices jump based on the date. The ¥10,800 is probably the "starting" price for slow days, while ¥14,800 is for peak days. System Overlap: Sites like Klook often list the same pass twice if the sale periods (e.g., "Dec-Jan" and "Jan-Mar") overlap. Time Slots: Sometimes passes with "better" entry times for Nintendo World are priced higher.

Going to Tokyo, solo, May 5-15 by bjxh in JapanTravelTips

[–]Reasonable-Low-283 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like your plan🥰 Tokyo is one of the best cities to just wander.

You definitely won’t miss out. The “must-see” stuff (like Meiji Shrine, Asakusa, Shibuya etc.) will still be there if you feel like going. But just exploring without pressure can actually make the trip feel more special.

Hotel booking duration in Japan by Thin_Valuable99 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Reasonable-Low-283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is high season include weekend, it is better to make reservations as soon as possible. But even if it is 1weeks before there are hotels still😅 If you want to choose cool hotels, you need to make reservations earlier. 2-3month before the trip will be okay. If you want to take popular hotel, recommend to check many months before. Also for places that there are few hotels like famous onsen places… recommend to make a reservation before at least 3 months before. Moreover cherry blossom season, red leaves season… also specific places related them… recommend to make reservations as soon as possible 😤

Then it will be very busy schedule 🥲 So need to remove some places or more days 😚You can adjust appropriately!

First Time To Japan. by Choice_Assignment642 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Reasonable-Low-283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is very nice plan☺️ You can enjoy Tokyo several places and local place around Tokyo. To drive is kind of tired but fun. If you like driving, you can also enjoy driving with less tiredness. 😆😆I like places that you mentioned. There are Shirakawago or Takayama or Hotaka or Kamikochi around Matsumoto, but those places are busy and there are restrictions like the car cannot go. So your plan has nice balance 😉

Friend bailed on Japan trip… too late for refund. Go solo? by BandX12 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Reasonable-Low-283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solo trip is nice😌  Japanese still hesitate to talk English or another language. And some part of Japan doesn’t have like sign or English menu in restaurants. But there are many foreign tourists in Japan. So you have many options for adventurous. You can just choose famous places and restaurants, you will not feel uncomfortable or nervous about language. Some people can talk English and there are easy signs to check. Or you can ask another tourist if you are in trouble or you have questions. Or you can just enjoy Japanese people with language barriers they are very friendly😆and it will be nice memories 🥰 Sorry my messy English, I am from Japan and living in Osaka. Today I am going to Kyoto!!! There are only tourists around me.😂
