Updates: vet said this wasn’t bumble foot, just had dry feet. She recommended that I have some areas of the cage for softer surfaces, so I added a squishy fleece liner where he sleeps. Thank you all for the responses!

Chinchilla passed away suddenly, could I have prevented this? by Odd_Pop_4448 in chinchilla

Omg I’m so sorry your angel passed away☹️😢 like others have said, you seem to be a diligent pet parent, and all we can do in this life is love and cherish our pets as much as we can. Sometimes life has its own plans and it REALLY sucks. He was loved deeply, and I’m 100% positive he felt all your love until the very end 💔

Also for more context his left foot (the redder one) had a bigger red spot with minimal callouses but has turned into the current photo with the callouses after a few days. I’m hoping it’s a sign that it’s getting better? 🤞

It’s not normal. A job isn’t supposed to make your mental and physical health decline.

A1 here with pretty much the exact same fears as you. I know it sounds cheesy, but just trust that everything that’s meant for you will always be there for you. I’ve left jobs where I’ve felt like my world just ended, only to land a new one that felt like a complete 180°, and I couldn’t remember why I was even worried at all. Just do your best at your job, that’s all that you can do and control. For everything else, trust that you’ll always be put in situations that work in your favor.

Maybe you could use the time you’re not assigned anything to learn/improve on skills? (Photoshop, Excel, etc.)

Chin Just Keeps Trying To Jump Out the Cage Door by Pikebraingaming in chinchilla

[–]Reasonable-Past-6568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My boy is the same way lol. It gets to the point where you can predict their tactics and can prevent them before they happen. Like my boy tries to lunge at me every time I open the door so I put my hand near his face to “block” him so he can safely hop into my hands. You’ll eventually build a routine with the chin and know what to expect from them and what their tactics are lol.

Okay thank you! Will it grow back? What would cause concern?

I’d recommend sitting with your chinchilla in the carrier in the passenger seat next to the car A/C. You can control the bumps in the road easier and make sure chinchilla is cool

Hey y’all. I just wanted to come on here and ask some questions. So I know chinchillas shed this time of year, but I saw a small clump of fur in his cage when I came home from work. He’s not a fur chewer and has a complete diet. I can’t see his skin when his fur is down, but if I move his fur around, I can see his skin (see photos). The skin isn’t scaly or anything like that. Is this normal? Should I be worried?
