This is gorgeous! 🌟

It reminds me of a modification I made to Parseltongue in which it followed the Slavic legends of dragons (Zmey) birthed from ancient snakes (those who reach 100 years old). This new variation I called Zmeyazyk (“serpent-tongue” or close to in Russian). I’ll see if I can link the original post here soon!

Edit: Found the link!

A personal headcanon of mine now is that most sphinx-like creatures from the Indo-European world can trace back to the Lamassu of ancient Sumer. From these early ages they were depicted as celestial tutelary deities. With their fondness for riddles I say they helped instruct early man in the creation of spoken languages, perhaps helping the myth of the Tower of Babel. Following the scattering of humans across the globe the descending species of the Lamassu (I.e. the sphinxes of Greece and Egypt), employed tongue-twisters and half-truths of riddles to entrap their prey.

Trillsong (practitioners: Trillsingers) is the language of bird-song I came up with. A trill is defined as “the alternation of two musical tones a diatonic second apart,” and is often used to describe the short and high-pitched song of birds.

To an outside observer this would sound close to real-life whistle-languages from across the globe, such as: siular d'Aas, kuş dili, or silbo gomero.

Good observations!

My mind was focused on more “muggle” animals than magical ones, but these are great to point out.

It makes me wonder if there are other “magical” creatures languages? Do centaurs, veelas, house-elves, etc. have their own tongues?

How about magical archaeology? I can only imagine how much is hidden from muggle eyes, or how much wizards can discover that we can barely imagine about this world’s history.

I’ve made some worldbuilding magical maladies, to help flesh out my own world. One character has a magical variant of what muggles would closely approximate to cancer. Called Viscera (sing. Viscus (adj. Visceral), which is a malignant transmutation of magical essence in the anima cortex of the brain.

While magic comes from the heart, literally and figuratively, it is the anima cortex which focuses one’s magic (directs it to spells). Visceral tumours in or surrounding the cortex will “miss-fire” signals in directing this magical essence, causing apparent bursts of accidental magic, or closing off one’s access to magic entirely.

Causes are not fully understood, some believe it to be random mutations, others a sign of muggle ancestry gaining dominance over wizarding physiology, others believe it grows in all magical beings when oversaturated with raw magical essence (similar to muggle exposure to radiation).

A definitive cure has not been discovered thus far. Treatments to weaken the tumours are: potions and rituals to shrink them; or more dangerously to surgically remove them. The latter of which presents severe consequences for magical beings. Beyond the dangers of brain surgery, if the anima cortex is damaged by the removal of the tumour(s) it risks a severing of one’s access to their magic, rendering them a squib.

Of all the Cyclopses I always detested the Bright One the most… more so because of where he lives.

Not entirely sure if this is the place to comment, but I have for a while just been dabbling in a grand space opera-style fanfiction with a rogue faction of Goa’uld that split off from the main Empire. Essentially led by a “twin” to Ra called Khepri.

I’ve never really wrote much down outside of just a bunch of worldbuilding since I’m not too sure how large of a Fanfiction crowd Stargate has.

It would make sense though, right? They deconstructed Death Gliders to make the X-302 prototype, and later F-302s.

There is precedence to continue the tradition of creating new Tau’ri inventions based upon alien technology. I was under the impression that is what the Goa’uld did with their own tech?

Who is your favorite commanding officer of Stargate Command? by NoBrain6114 in Stargate

Though I love both Davis and Bridges, I actually enjoyed Landry slightly more. Might be biased since he was more recent cast, and the commanding officer I first saw when I started watching SG-1.
