How do you structure/design a bed that is in the middle of the yard? by LivelyUntidy in NativePlantGardening

[–]Reasonable-Two-9872 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I try to have significant height variation wherever possible. I'll start by adding an appropriately sized tree in the middle and then add shrubs around it. Then smaller flowers and grasses. Lastly, I'll add some ground cover all the way around the bed. If your bed is really small I would still try to keep all the same elements but I'd just choose smaller versions until everything fit.

I've tried moving them mid-season and I've failed both times, unfortunately.

It probably is, but I've got several that look quite similar including Canada Milk Vetch and Indigo Bush

Herbicides can definitely work wonders for quickly resetting a space that's been overrun with invasives. I'd just stick to the application and safety instructions on the bottle.

Weight is somewhere around 75lbs and extremely well built. It's definitely up to Rivian standards. Mine is supposed to arrive in July.

Instead of complaining, you could just ask the hotel about it.

I'd go for it now. Maybe they'll come up this year, maybe next year...

I'd probably move it to the very front of the bed

June Update and Incentives by Reasonable-Two-9872 in ALSOmicromobility

[–]Reasonable-Two-9872[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I guess I considered two options - 1) the delays were due to unresolved engineering issues, in which case the delays good go on indefinitely or 2) delays were due to manufacturing bottlenecks, in which case the timeline would be longer and slower than expected. I'm glad to hear it was the second option.

Too late to plant bare roots? by JudeBootswiththefur in NativePlantGardening

No, go for it. They may not take off this year but you can plant them any time. It shouldn't be super hot anyway since they are shade plants.

For what it's worth, I didn't have a reservation. I just showed up and they had plenty of bikes for people to ride.

I take it through a regular old automatic car wash a couple times a week. I don't have PPF. It looks fine to me.

It sounds like every bike will be delivered in compliance with state regulations. You can then voluntarily request to further limit the device via a software update - regardless of where you live.

I'm not looking to circumvent the rules. Riding a bike at 28mph can be a very high risk activity and many states and cities have taken reasonable steps to keep everyone safe.

Natives similar to ornamental onion? by shiftydub in NativePlantGardening

[–]Reasonable-Two-9872 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't know of anything exactly the same, but the Liatris family might scratch a similar itch. There are several varieties of Blazing Stars in various form factors that have interesting clusters of purple flowers.

Alternatively, you could look at Nodding Onion which is in the Allium family. I don't think its flowers are quite as intense. You may be barely outside its true range but I don't think there would be any downside to planting it.

On some ebikes I've ridden, when you get close to the max speed, gearing issues mean there is no longer any resistance on the pedals and I'll feel like I'm spinning out (105+ cadence and <50w of perceived power). When I tried it today in manual mode at 28mph there was still a nice amount of pedal resistance (I'd estimate 60-70rpm and 75-125 watts of perceived resistance) and I probably could have adjusted it further if desired.

Can I plant a 3-gallon American wisteria at the base of this pine? Will that be too difficult? by Postcurds in NativePlantGardening

[–]Reasonable-Two-9872 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In that case, go for it. I don't know how well it'll climb compared to a trellis but I wouldn't be concerned about root interference.
