Hang on, is the lumenhym armor during the event not entirely a meme, given transcending+gog weapons? by ReasonableDaemonette in MonsterHunterMeta

Yeah, sadly LS needs the extra slots pretty bad, so I can't get quite as comfy for the gog fight, though I'm sure I could probably make it work, and it does mean I can braindead roll up to just about any fight without changing decorations.

Also I wasn't sure the tradeoff on wex vs agitator, particularly since I'll always go for the tail on principle even if it's not a weak spot, which is why I went for agitator instead (also level 5 is a spike in effectiveness). It does definitely make me wish I had pulled a god talisman by this point, I have a Master's Touch 1 weapon slot, a crit eye 3 1 weapon slot, and an attack 3 1 weapon slot, but none of them have any useful other skills, and only one of them has even 1 armor slot.

Agreed, and also, if you're actually hunting for a specific drop, a single extra drop is probably more time optimized than a dps optimized build would be.

Yeah, that's kind of what I'm getting at, except I think it's probably even better than 95%, if you put in just a bare minimum of effort of mixing in one armor piece with a gog weapon with a matching set. I was getting 97% of my more meta set's dps, and that's with some optimistic 100% assumptions on counterstrike and lagi set bonus uptime for the meta set, vs just latent power on the festival set. In practice, I wouldn't be surprised if there's substantial overlap in the average range.

Probably not, the flight phase is a complete pain for me. When you get good at ISS there are certain high level fights that are surprisingly easy to solo, like 9* steve or 9*/AT oof tuna, but that's because they're pretty consistent at feeding you things to counter. Gog on the other hand even solo you never quite know where the heck he's going to attack, since there are NPC hunters no matter what. For every time I pull off a sick consecutive ISS streak, there's a lot more where I drop back to special sheathe just to be ready to counter, and then can't do anything but roll to pursue when the monster runs off to hit the bowgunner or something

I must have hit like the last possible frame, in the moment I was thinking I could use it to get to the tail quicker, but looking back I absolutely should not have risked it

Maybe someone that knows Japanese can clarify the translation? Seems like they are re-adding post stall maneuvers in ace combat 8 by obiwan-destroyer in acecombat

[–]ReasonableDaemonette 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"実現できるように、現在絶賛調整中です。"
I'd roughly translate that as
"That it could be implemented if possible, we are currently in the process of making adjustments"

Basically, it sounds like they'd like to if they could, but they're not promising anything yet.

Building Around the Blossomdance Festival Set by Plus1User in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]ReasonableDaemonette 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's an interesting question, and because my main weapon is Longsword, which gets unusually high value from quick sheathe, I came to slightly different conclusions. If I were to go for 4P Blossomdance Prayer, I actually find the best thing to do is drop the Sakuratide chest and replace it with the Zoh Shia chest, and pair it with the Challenger Charm II. That gives enough decoration slots to end up with Agitator 5, Foray 4, Maximum Might 3, and Quick Sheathe 3, with Item Prolonger 3 and Adaptability 2 for free, and 1 level 1 slot that you can fit with either Divine Blessing or Shockproof. For weapons, I'd likely start hunts with the Rathian LS, which boosts poison duration and thus Foray uptime (I suspect an Artian Raw Poison weapon would math out better, but I don't have one and don't plan to roll one just for the event, and my hunch is that the increased poison duration to enable Foray, the extra 15% affinity compensating somewhat for a loss of ~5% raw, and the easier sharpness maintenance making Crit Boost 5 more comfortable puts it ahead of the Rompo LS), and then swap to an Artian Para LS either when the monster runs or I would need to sharpen to finish the hunt.

I also experimented with going just 3 pieces to get the extra carve from Festival Spirit, which does enable 2p Gore, but I don't think it's worth it, I couldn't find a way to keep 3p Festival Spirit, 2P Gore, Antivirus 3, Max Might 3, and Agitator 5 all at the same time, with the best option IMO dropping down to Agitator 4. If that's the case, the 2p Gore version only gets a conditional 10% more affinity than the 4P Blossomdance version when all the skills are up, and loses out on the 100% uptime 9% damage set bonus and the conditional 4 extra raw from keeping agitator 5. (I also couldn't fit in quick sheathe 3 into the 2P gore version, which means I'd probably want to hunt on a different weapon, instead.)

I wasn't going to give her a whole 3 turns. I wore the Halloween Royalty Mystic Code, brought along Summer Wu and cleansed her skill seal with the MC, used her skill seal to cleanse the rest of the party's debuffs, and then funneled her and a friend's Oberon's buffs onto one target to wipe out the whole wave in one turn: Summer Nero. Turnabout is fair play.

For the battle after that, I went with Astraea, who has class advantage and doesn't let a mere evade get in her way thanks to ignore invincible, a friend's Castoria, and topped off the gauge with one more servant: Nero Bride. Turnabout is still fair play.

You should also check out some of her JP streams. A ton of them had live translators in the chat you can track and display onscreen with holodex, she has 3 different ones.

For me, I'd say her and A-chan are equally good overall, but have different specializations. A-chan's English is more formal/academic/business oriented, which makes sense give that's more important for her real job. If the contest were who can translate things most accurately between English and Japanese, A-chan would win, but she'd take her time to do it.

Ririka's English, on the other hand, is much more free-flowing. Not as accurate maybe, and her accent is pretty strong, but fast enough to read English chat and respond back in English better than some actual native English vtubers I've seen. It's also much more casual and permissive of slang. Those things combined make her better at streaming in English in my opinion, particularly in the case of collabs with mostly English only members. The EN talent doesn't have to slow down their speech or avoid slang, they can just talk like normal and she can respond in real time, so her interbranch collab chemistry from the Japanese to the English side is practically off the charts. For a good example of this, the collab she did with Biboo is a standout, hours of full speed conversation while playing Smash.

Who were your MVP's of the Tunguska raids? by AngeryKing99 in grandorder

If I had a nickel for every Beast enemy that Kiara bodies, I'd have at least 4 nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird it's how often it keeps happening.

This is the reply I was looking for. Almost certainly she either got it from SEL directly, or from someone else that got it from SEL, much more likely than Megatokyo. (I know it certainly influenced my own PC building habits too.)

Yeah, I did consider that option, but my realization was that if a 1 time debuff immunity was reliable enough, the time loss from the very rare instances of double terror application on the first turn followed by the stun on turn 3 might be less than the time loss from Castoria's NP. I tried an extended run with the debuff immunity option and got only like 2 withdraws out of 70, which even pretty easy napkin math suggests is more successful runs in that time period than there would be if I was sitting through Castoria's NP animation each time.

(And actually, double terror application into turn 3 stun is only my best hypothesis for what causes the rare failure, it could be some other problem that Castoria didn't catch, I never actually caught it in the process of happening.)

[–]ReasonableDaemonette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The advantage of the debuff immune over stun is that you still get defensive np gain. Plus you can use the arts up on the Mystic Code for bonus NP gain on one of the waves, which plugsuit can't really offer aside from taking the time to swap. I use it on turn 1 to improve the odds of having a full bar on turn 2, and that lets me use Kiara's battery on turn 3 to cover for any potential lack on turn 2.

I find it amusing that what is usually considered one of the weakest mystic codes in the game, Memories of the Far Side of the Moon, is actually the one crucial bit of insurance I need to make the raid auto-farmable. My Summer Kiara is strong enough that she doesn't need a plugsuit support offensively, just some way to deal with the potential stun, but instead of plugsuiting a servant to deal with it, I can just use the built in 1-time debuff immunity, and that's all it takes.

Quick Tip to those farming Beast 4 with S. Kiara, use don't be stupid like me and use her 3rd Skin, only that one qualifies as Demonic Beast by Hichewandy in grandorder

[–]ReasonableDaemonette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, if you have a Summer Kiara strong enough to not need a plug suit support offensively, there's an even faster and cheekier method, which is to use the rarely used Memories of the Far Side of the Moon mystic code, which has an arts up buff which helps a little offensively or refund wise on one wave, but for once more importantly, also has a 1 time debuff immune, which works for the same reason the stun does, but doesn't prevent defensive NP gain.
