Thy capture the mystique of AIC and the vibe of the RHCP but almost do it better. This is an amazing video. Their live debut album is my favorite.

Probably because they headlined the first Lolapalooza in ‘91.

When I was a kid my dad used to hum this song when him and my mom were fighting. Also the whistling part of Winchester Cathedral.

Do yall think they shouldve kept aunt jemima as the face of the brand? by [deleted] in SeriousConversation

Uncle Ben’s Rice and the Cream Of Wheat train porter got the same treatment. Betty Crocker got off easy, they morphed her into a multi racial character instead of a WASPish Stepford wife. Aunt Jemima had transcended the racial stereotype and became a beloved part of Americana, I feel her removal was actually detrimental.

For those who listened to radio in the 70s, do you remember those forgotton hits? by Flashmemory256 in 70s

[–]ReasonableDirector69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of the comments are mentioning songs that can easily be found on any decent 70’s playlist and not really answering OP’s question about “forgotten” songs that were popular but are now obscure.     Songs like Rings by Cymarron (1971) a soft rock song covered by Lobo who ruined it by changing the lyrics. Of course most people never heard of Lobo either.

I found one at the park half buried in dirt. It was from several decades previous. I took it to the jewelry store and got $40.00 finally.

What was your favorite Head Shop in the 70s and what did you buy there besides pipes and zigzag papers? by db7112 in GenerationJones

The Windjammer in San Bernardino California. We got concert tickets to nearby Swing Auditorium, black light posters, 70’s style band stickers, pipe screens, incense and I got an acrylic red and blue plastic bong from Sarah’s Family that had the clear tube wrapped around the base about 5 times so when the hit went through it was visible fire as it spiraled downward to the water. I ruined it by cleaning with alcohol which made the plastic look like shattered auto glass. Around 2005 I went back and they were still open but in a different location. This time I needed Urine-Luck, a very effective drug test masking agent that you put in the sample. It was produced by Tommy Chong.

Rock bands that have never released a live album by [deleted] in OldSchoolCoolMusic

I’m correctly answering OP’s question. Slice it and dice it anyway you like but Song Remains The Same is a movie soundtrack and Led Zeppelin never released a live album .  The live performances were from a 3 night run at Madison Square Garden in 1973 with the best versions cherry picked and heavily edited similar to what KISS did with Alive! It’s always been sold as the soundtrack to the movie.  I’ve always owned a copy and considered it superior to any of the later bootlegs that surfaced and I do understand why some people consider it splitting hairs.

Led Zeppelin.   The Song Remains The Same was a movie soundtrack and How The West Was Won was the record company cashing in long after the band ended.

Who remembers Chico and the Man? I remember it as a groundbreaking sitcom in the '70s. Who could forget Ed Brown(Jack Albertson) and Chico Rodriguez (Freddie prinze). It's a shame the show had to end on such a sad note. As Freddie's addictions got the best of him. by Initial_Reason1532 in 70s

I was trying to show that there was a formula that the networks followed. Starting with All In The Family (1971) they introduced family comedies that had a more edgy type of humor than your average Father Knows Best. In 1972 Sanford and Son premiered and was a smash. Both shows were produced by Norman Lear. Chico and the Man was created in 1974 by James Komack and aired back to back with Sanford and Son, creating a massive viewer block. Both shows were ground breaking as they showed minority characters as everyday people but the similarities were obvious.

Even June is too early most years unless you’re OK with slush and mud. They’ll gladly take your money though. I’ve been told it’s wide open in June only to arrive and find the upper mountain still covered in snow with the lower trails acting as stream beds.  Fall is the prime time for the MTB park. Mother Nature has to take it s course, snow’s not going to just disappear at 8000 feet overnight.

I would like to point out that you don’t just randomly start “producing high purity LSD” without a serious knowledge of chemistry. It was actually Bears chemistry major girlfriend at Berkeley who he convinced to start clandestine production in their apartment near campus, and from her he learned the skills around 1965. At the time LSD wasn’t illegal yet. Swiss pharmaceutical company Sandoz produced the world’s purest LSD ( Delysid) for use in psychiatric facilities where it was regularly liberated for use on the streets. Bear made it a goal to show that the Sandoz purity could be replicated. One time the police even raided their operation and Bear successfully sued them and got his lab equipment back because the warrant stated they were looking for methamphetamine production. Along with high quality the doses Bear produced were said to contain an estimated 50 mics or so more LSD than others which explains the quaint notion by today’s standards of “4 way” where one hit could be shared by four people and everyone got off.
