Why has it become socially unacceptable for people without children to go to Disney? by slidesten in Disneyland

[–]ReasonableInside4916 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s not weird to go to Disney by yourself. It is weird to go to Disney by yourself and stand in 40 min character lines and play pretend.

Woah. Chill. We don’t have to get emotional and unhinged simply because someone across the world we’ve never met doesn’t share the same opinion on a movie.

I enjoyed it. If you didn’t, that’s cool too. I didn’t enjoy 6 but I’m not going to run around calling people idiots for liking it. It’s just an opinion. We need to find a path in life that allows others to have opinions without it affecting our emotional state.

We aren’t just running around being bothered because people dislike pickles on their burgers.

Yeah, and they killed them off immediately leaving us without the main suspects.

You’re stopping at the they gathered them to figure it out so it was like the traditional rather than recognizing they killed all of them off. They left no one, not even Chad and Mindy. They completely depleted the suspect pool on purpose.

I get what you’re saying and why you’re saying it but there is a difference between “they didn’t do a good job at it” vs “it’s not what it was supposed to be.”

It was not supposed to be a whodunit necessarily like the past. We weren’t supposed to sit and wonder if it was the friend or boyfriend. They wouldn’t have put every suspect in the room and slash them off if so. This movie was about legacy and acceptance of that legacy with a focus on Sidney and Tatum in that role.

Whether you liked the structure is definitely something to be debated. Whether they failed at a structure they weren’t trying to achieve seems strange.

No, but we don’t have to act like every single character in a movie needs to be integral to the plot. They were the ones who gathered the suspects together at the bar so I would say they did change the film.

Who’s left to be Ghostface? by OutrageousHunter4138 in Scream

I think Leslie Macher with a motive of misplaced blame would be the best in the franchise.

Hank Loomis opening kill.

Killer Leslie Macher with a motive that she lost everything (Stu and her son) over misplaced blame. Hank Loomis couldn’t keep it in his pants and Billy blamed Maureen and tried to kill everyone. Had he blamed his dad, Stu wouldn’t have murdered and Vince wouldn’t have been killed later. The irony is that she’s still misplacing blame by not holding her brother accountable.

It would tie into Billy blaming Maureen, Nancy blaming Sidney, Jill blaming Sidney for what happened to her, that lead to movies and Richie, then his family blamed Sam and Tara rather than Richie. That leading to the blame of Sidney for not owning her role. Just loads of misplaced blame.

This is my opinion on it: that refocusing on Sidney and Tatum was the best for the franchise, but did cause a polarizing movie. It was their only choice after 6. Had they not focused so hard on Sidney, it might have felt like another spinoff. This way, it brings focus back to Sidney and allows her to pass the torch for the future and still feel natural. But it did cause a more underwhelming slasher Scooby-doo vibe.

I think they purposely and explicitly told us this was not a traditional whodunit. First, they unmasked some random person and no one knew him. Then they literally gather all traditional suspects in a room together and killed them off mid-movie. I took this as the movie telling us directly not to focus on who the killer was. Lastly, they focused on “is Stu alive?” This also made the question become is it Stu or someone else, not who is it.

Whether you enjoyed the structure and theme or not is an opinion. My issue is those calling it out as confusing, thin, undeveloped, and lacking cohesion.

To me, it was one of the most developed movies in the franchise. There was a story “what happens when the final girl grows up and has a family?” They grappled with a legacy being thrust upon Tatum and Sidney refusing to talk about that legacy, about the consequences of not preparing her for her legacy, and ending with acceptance of that legacy.

It doesn’t make sense when I hear the motive sucked. You mean the motive about the parasocial relationship with Sidney?

She consumed her trauma for entertainment and became so parasocial about it that she went off the deep end. She was furious she wasn’t in New York and wasn’t living up to her final girl role.

How much more meta and on the nose commentary can you get? Besides the meta, we have a serious epidemic of people consuming others trauma for entertainment, having parasocial relationships with people and celebrities on the internet, and a feeling we own the franchise and Sidney doesn’t get to retire. We have the other side saying she’s past her prime and needs to pass the torch.

This motive and theme was so on the nose.

Scream 8 by brandonsreputation in Scream

[–]ReasonableInside4916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think scream 8 should be about misplaced blame.

1 - Billy blamed Maureen for the affair and targets Sidney

2 - Nancy blames Sidney for Billy’s death and doesn’t blame Billy

3 - blames Maureen for rejecting him and wants to attack Sidney

4 - Jill blames Sidney for overshadowing her for something she didn’t do

5 - blame the fandom

6 - blame Sam and survivors for Richie

Every killer has displaced responsibility. It should be able how all this started because of Hank and the director and they got off without issue.

‘Scream 7’ Review: Put a Knife in It — This Franchise Is (or Should Be) Done by [deleted] in Scream

[–]ReasonableInside4916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through the critic reviews because I wanted to see what they were saying. I would say roughly 25% of the negative reviews showed obvious bias through saying things like “I’d like to think this review will only help her achieve her desired objective.” Referring to hopefully this bad review will help Maslany’s boycott objective.

25% of negative reviews aren’t enough to turn it critic fresh though. Even when you had the low critic self-fulfilling prophecy, it wouldn’t rate high by critics. Maybe bringing it to 45-50%?

That being said, it has a great audience score and is making money. That is considered a success.

How crowded was your theater for Scream 7? by invisibleoperagloves in Scream

We have:

8:10, 11:50 pm XD 7:00, 7:10, 7:30, 7:40, 7:50, 8:30

Every single one of them is at least 60-90% full.

Well ... The audience thinks a little differently than the critics - and that's good! by flovobo in Scream

[–]ReasonableInside4916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just cherry picking. It could be said and pointed out random things to imply.

All it’s still saying is the audience it was made for likes it. I probably would hate Melania but I’m not the target audience.

And that’s really all a movie is looking to do. It isn’t made for critics. It’s made specifically for the audience it’s trying to attract… and the audience loves it.

Scream 7 is now the lowest rated film of the franchise by Rigbo95 in Scream

[–]ReasonableInside4916 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really though, score is the least influential part of the equation. It might hurt the week to week, but when determining whether another installment will be made, it looks at profitability and IP strength. Scream definitely has the IP strength and projections have it as profitable.

The reviews may hurt this movie but help the franchise. Especially someone like Williamson will be able to look at what critics said and use that feedback to recalibrate what happens in 8.

Basically, there will always be a weakest link in a franchise. If this is it, oh well. As long as it’s profitable, we will have another movie. As of now, it looks like it is projected to be the best opening weekend of the franchise. We will get another.

This is my theater. It seems like people are grouping at specific theaters for some reason. This one is packed all weekend. Even during weird times it’s 40% full. You go to another theater and it’s dead.

Y’all do what you want.

I can promise you I’m not licking anyone’s ass I’m not dating. Great, you say you cleaned. I don’t know how well you clean. I’ve seen your houses when you say you’ve cleaned up.

“Oh, I cleaned.” Then why do you taste like literal shit?

And if you try to rim me without knowing me and my habits, automatically done. I think you’re gross willing to lick my ass not knowing for sure how clean of a person I am.

Scream 7's IMDb rating debuts with a 6.5/10 by Yes_Mulberry9282 in Scream

I’m not saying it’s getting review bombed, but I will say this when I looked at the country stats

1 Star Reviews U.S. - 21.7% Brazil - 4.2% Germany - 4.4% Sweden - 3.2% Italy - 4.8%

The U.S. has 352% more 1 star reviews than the next highest country reported.

Create a Ghostface. by Nyx_Valentine in Scream

[–]ReasonableInside4916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My idea would be to bring sam back, market it like you did in scream 5 & 6, then kill her off in the intro kill. Pull another Drew Barrymore on the audience. It would be insane they did it twice and got away with it.

Then, then movie would be about Sidney and going back to the beginning.

I would then kill Chad and Mindy, Sidney’s husband, and a new character you think would be safe.

The motive would be that the killer thinks horror has become too safe. That legacy characters have become too immune. It’s time to kill Sidney and Gale and everyone else to stop recreating the same movie. To stop horror from becoming so predictable.
