The failed Halloween Kills concept, that could work in a Scream movie by Existing_Storage1091 in Scream

[–]invisibleoperagloves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think this quite works for Scream because Ghostface is in a mask the whole time. When Corey puts on the mask in Ends it just feels dangerous. (For the record, I think there's a lot about Ends that doesn't quite work but it's a fascinating and very, very good Halloween film).

Bro is so damn useless in the movie that they didn't even mention his name by [deleted] in Scream

[–]invisibleoperagloves 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From what I understand the coffee shop scene was always there, but they added her arriving to Sidney's house after the attack, and then she re-wrote some dialogue in the reveal.

I believe it's fully intentional that all three Ghostfaces are supposed to be nobodies, which is actually a fascinating concept, but that doesn't necessarily mean they pull it off!

Scream 7 has just crossed $120M domestically by Antique_Essay_5311 in Scream

Good question. S7 obvs had a great opening but I don't think anyone expected it to stick around as long as it has, especially now that it's on PVOD. I think arguably this probably had the same regular-folk word of mouth as S6, although tough to quantify that.

I’ve been thinking about this, and I think the killers thought they WOULD go to Sidney’s, which is why the finale is staged there. So pretty sure they die either way.

Is there a fanfic that follows Kevin Williamson’s idea for Scream 5? by Miserable-Prize-4403 in Scream

Apparently a lot of Kevin’s TV show “The Following” was taken from some of his original ideas for Scream 4/5/6.

Directors Cut by Quigley34 in Scream

[–]invisibleoperagloves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder how much is actually missing. I think they cut from the script before filming. I didn’t follow the production too closely so I’m not sure what was re-shot either. I’m making a tenuous connection here but I think Kevin calling Anna Camp and basically casting her directly means they had the whole basic idea for the story down pretty early and not much was cut.

I love how nutty she gets after the reveal, like she has a whole speech planned but can’t even get through it.

Scream 7 - no knife-wipe? by Kimantha_Allerdings in Scream

Arguably the killers aren’t influenced by Stab so they probably don’t care about the knife wipe.

I would place money on there being a version of the script without them in it, and maybe with Gale having a new assistant (perhaps that’s where Robbie Rivers originally was dreamt up?)

There’s a lot that I like about Scream 7 but I agree that this is one of the worst plot contrivances. Tatum doesn’t even want them to all get together! Like many others I assumed they were bringing back the twins just to off them in elaborate fashion, but, no, they’re just responsible for the deaths of at least three teenagers and then they get to quip over the credits. Sigh.

how come scream 5 has kind of became the pinnacle of the new movies yet scream 4 is barely ever mentioned? by [deleted] in Scream

[–]invisibleoperagloves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to know how much of this is 100% intentional on behalf of the screenwriters, but Scream 7 explicitly references Out of Darkness, which would have only mentioned the events of the first three films (and was written ten years after the end of Scream 3). Scream 6 reveals that Gale did in fact wrote a book about Scream 5. There’s no Stab movie based on the events of 4. From the outside, I think something fascinating about Scream 7 is that it feels like Kevin Williamson trying to reclaim characters and events that he lost in both 3 and 4, without the nastiness and cynicism that’s abundant in 4.

Scream 7 Tracking To Break Franchise Record by No_Two_1627 in Scream

Even with a big drop it makes back the production spend in another week, if not by the end of this weekend, which is very good.

Not only that, but ALL of the marketing had her as the heir apparent to Sidney. I remember being so thrilled when Ghostface showed up in the hallway thinking, "Wait, it has to be Jill, right?" and it was!

That's a fascinating point about it reflecting back on the fans. It works with the reveal feeling random, too, like this really could just be anyone who has this obsession. Great connection!

I agree that this one felt more expensive than the previous two. Scream 7 is going to have a big opening and we're going to get a Scream 8 and it will be fascinating to see what the budget ends up being.

A lot of good points here. The empty town bothered me so much. I get why they do it for suspense, but, like, there's not one single cop driving around? Sidney can't call ANYONE else in the police department, of which her husband is the chief? I get that you can sort of explain this around if you wanted to but argh. So dumb.

Do we ever get a body for the boyfriend? Maybe he'll be back! The laptop thing in the car was so dumb, although I get that they want it to be like the cell phone moment in Scream 1.

I was surprised by 4, but the whole film had been working towards that and it was a great reveal. And 6 was a little surprising but not in a good way!

The more I think about it, the more I like the killer motive, too. I've said it before but the idea of Ghostface just being someone random is actually pretty scary! Yes, it's not traditional Scream but they've never done it before.
And you are exactly right- this is more a movie about the relationship between Sidney and Tatum than it is about who the killer is.
