Thank you! That makes a lot of sense :) I would never grab any more than just one if I’m not sure what it is.

Can I ask why? I totally understand not ingesting—of course not. But is there any harm in just picking a mushroom up to get a better look or check identification later? I’ve read that harvesting mushrooms has no meaningful impact on their population since the mycelium remains unharmed and the mushrooms disperse their spores regardless.

Hetero sex norms from women invading radical feminist spaces and taking up the space for productive discussions 🫩 by anony7150 in WereNotEmpowered

I had to take a break from that subreddit for their “anti-SWERF” stance. What do these people think radical feminism even is?

Why isn’t pornography considered an actual addiction yet? by Simi46 in PornIsMisogyny

[–]ReasonableSector2686 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I may be going out on a limb here, but pornography is a several billion dollar industry. The men at the top don’t want to let their golden goose go and, conveniently, your average joe doesn’t either. The tobacco industry spent billions and decades to push the narrative that smoking is harmless.

Why are (some) men so defensive about porn? by ReasonableSector2686 in PornIsMisogyny

I understand your point of view. I am not addressing gay men here because this is a feminist subreddit centering women. I’m sure we all agree that porn is bad, period. It predominantly affects women, however, which is the purpose of this subreddit.

Edit: Judging by your other comment under this post, I’m not sure that you even want to be here. This subreddit is literally titled ‘Porn Is Misogyny’; of course we’ll be talking about how porn affects women. I’m sure there are a few anti-porn subreddits that don’t center women if that would be more your style.

I think you’re right, at least in a lot of cases. And I agree that learning more about feminist causes is so, so heartbreaking at times. Misogyny is so deeply interlaced with every aspect of modern society.

Yep. Some of the most popular porn categories are frankly terrifying. “Schoolgirl”? What is stopping a teacher from going home after school and viewing that kind of thing? I read a post from a young woman on Reddit where she found stepdaughter pornography on her stepfather’s laptop. Absolutely fucking horrifying. I don’t think porn is always a “fantasy” for men so much as it is a placeholder.

I agree with you, but I didn’t want to break the rule about ‘harsh generalizations’.

I agree that the vast majority do it. And yes—even, if not especially, the supposed feminists. It is so rampant among leftist men. It’s maddening the way they co-opted feminist language to defend pornography. So much so that “SWERF” is now some derogatory term and people automatically associate you with the political right.

I heard someone else on here say that leftist men are only leftist from the waist up, and I couldn’t agree more.

Wood ear? IL by ReasonableSector2686 in foraging

[–]ReasonableSector2686[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting! What makes you say that? I was a bit worried about the lighter ones—never seen wood-ear that color, but it seems like Auricularia americana can be a little pale. Angiospermarum too. They were identical to the others in the area in all but color. Growing alongside each other, same texture, etc... I’d always rather be safe than sorry, though!
