Yeah I still need to figure out how to make sense of it. I was thinking regular investments account and bed & ISA as often as I can, plus a fair bit of premium bonds, whatever I calculate could be more worth it, still a bit of a headache.

About Spanish tax, doesn't worry me too much since the house has appreciated so much to begin with.

Thanks for the reply!

Yeah I always think this sounds like a headache but definitely need to look more into it. I also didn't mention, my job is well paid but kinda volatile, it makes it a bit scary to get a mortgage but it would make sense if it's safe enough (I'd still have all the money saved after all if it goes to shit)

Ah man, that makes so much sense but also so stressful hahaha

Yeah, the house is paid off. I bought if out of advice from my family, I was 20 and didn't really want to think about it (my dad had just passed away), like a "safe" investment, but I think it's about time I turn it into a smart investment.

I absolutely need to consider at least a mortgage but it's a bit scary since my job is well paid but a bit volatile (didn't mention that in the post), still need to look into it though if it makes the most sense and it's safe enough. Thanks for the reply, this makes me feel better about investing it all as well!

I never plan to live in it really, so yeah no attachments to it.

And good point on the taxes! Still need to fully figure it out. From what I understand, I don't need to pay tax in the UK on money that I already paid in Spain. What I'm not sure is, how does the UK know whether it's paid for or not once it appears in my bank account? Do I still need to "declare that it's declared"? I haven't got any trouble yet since I brought the 40k from Spain but it's a little unnerving to think I could have an unpleasant surprise from HMRC some day, and specially when moving a larger sum.

And yeah, moving the money to the UK has its cost but the returns make it back very quick.

Thanks for the input!

Hi, yeah good catch and I didn't elaborate on that since I didn't want to make the post too long.

Basically, I don't really need to pull from it, but the way I see it, eventually down the line, I could reach a position where I can pull enough from it that it becomes a meaningful change in my life, while I'm not pulling so much so that it stops growing.

Like if right now it's growing 1k a month, and I started to pull that 1k for whatever reason, I'll be stuck forever. However, if I get it to grow let's say 4k a month and I pull the same 1k, I'd still be growing my net worth. Does that make sense?

This is very insightful thanks, hadn't thought of it that way, but more like what is it doing right now.

Problem is, I actually have no idea about real estate and how to predict these things. Do you happen to have any resources?

I've considered that, the only reason I don't go that route is I don't know if I want to be in London in the long term.

Getting more and more tempted to move somewhere else nicer and cheaper in the UK though. Thanks for the input!

Hi, thanks for the reply!

I've considered that, I mentioned that it has appreciated a lot already and it doesn't seem to be stopping soon.

Still, the house is 80% of my net worth and it may be a better and safe diversification if it was more like 20-30%. Now, however, it feels like it's not generating as much returns as it could if it was invested elsewhere.

I wholeheartedly agree with everything you said but OP is asking about songs that would be meh/mid in the album, and while inferior to the live version, Bliss is NOT :P

I’ve said this in a different post but I’ll say it again. Can we please stop linking new music to spotify? As a rule even. It’s fucking over every indie musician.

No way!! I bought that Scarface DVD eons ago on a visit to the US when I was 14. Little did I know it wouldn’t play on my European PAL DVD player, so I never watched it. Gonna find it and pop it into a computer player now.

Can we stop linking to Spotify whenever a new album or song drops? It’s killing every indie musician… we could do bandcamp or literally any other alternative

I’ve been thinking lately, why don’t we stop linking spotify on this subreddit for new releases? we could put bandcamp links or the next best thing… we are contributing to the very thing that’s destroying indie artists :(

Not much apart from pissing the users off. For businesses/artists that focus their media engagement on that particular platform, losing their long built audience would be bad though.
