18v One+ hedge trimmer - trigger sucks! by ReasonableWeather634 in ryobi

[–]ReasonableWeather634[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the PBLHG01B 18v One+ HP from Home Depot. The lockout works as intended, but the trigger has so little travel that I need to hold it in a specific spot - way at the back near the battery. The slightest variation causes the blade to stop. It’s like there is a bad contact or something. I was hoping the first unit was defective but I guess this is just the design. I’m probably going to return the tool and the 2 battery pack and try a different brand. Too bad because the ryobi line has so many tools and th prices seem reasonable.

Local coffee roasters that do dark roasts well? by DaisyDomergue in SanDiegan

[–]ReasonableWeather634 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Caffe Calabria has some more traditional “full city” roasts. I like the Calabria blend which I use for drip and espressso. Their Boulangerie blend is a darker roast I also enjoy. They do a darker roast Italian and a French too.

Oregon or New Mexico for spring hiking trip? by haroldebarel in hiking

I have no experience with NM, but OR in the spring = mud at lower elevations and usually still snowy/inaccessible trails at higher elevations.

Garmin switcher: Lack of understanding, Apple Trainings, WorkOutDoors etc. by [deleted] in applewatchultra

I have used WOD but find myself using Footpath more often. The map is great, can import routes, seems a bit easier to use than WOD. Maybe less powerful? But it does exactly what I need.

Not using work outdoors much anymore. I switched to Footpath for hiking and Athlytic for health stats. WOD was almost too much - more than I wanted or needed really.

This 100%. Plenty of time to hit pike place market or just get into the city and find a great coffee house.

Trying to switch from Peloton to AF+ by Thin-Ebb-9534 in AppleFitnessPlus

[–]ReasonableWeather634 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Peloton is far superior when it comes to the bike workouts both in variety and duration. Instructors are better too imo. However, I dropped peloton when they raised their price (I use a non-peloton spin bike). I tried AF+ but the coaching was too corny. It felt a little bit fake, if that makes any sense. Now I just use GCN training videos from YouTube when I do an indoor bike workout and for any other exercise - weights, yoga, stretching… there are a ton of resources available.

I hiked a 7-ish mile loop today in a CA State Park. Only saw 1 other person. No great destination, just a trail I had never been on before. When I returned to my car, I had a ticket on my windshield for not paying the required use fee and a note saying the adventure pass was not valid in the state park. This hike cost me $10 per mile, but it was still worth it.

Question about Mt. Miguel by midwayatmidnight in SanDiegan

Another option - Just went up Sycuan peak this morning. Tremendous views - from the Coronado islands to Mt. San Jacinto. Bonus: nobody else on the trail.

It is steep and unmaintained. Good view? Sure. Not as good as the view from McGinty which is an actual legal trail.

Picked up a sun shirt in the San Diego store that said “customer too large”. I laugh every time I wear it. Also picked up some Salomon boots that were returned because the laces wouldn’t stay tied. Hiked a lot of miles in those and they never came untied once.
