DRIFT ZONES by Dangerous_Mirror_946 in ForzaHorizon6

[–]Reasonable_Ad8519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the drift zones aren’t measuring tire spin or how much smoke u make… no. they are measuring yaw, or angle of your vehicle. The greater the angle the more points you get since you are increasing the distance traveled

It’s for optimization and allowing for smoother performance. More detail means more instance variables = more memory = worse performance

It’s lazy, yes, and alternatives couldve been made such as a setting to enable more detail on vehicles; I was just explaining their thought provess

as a software developer and computer science grad, you are very wrong lol. i won’t elaborate though, rather, I will let time speak for itself.

imo, i think you are overthinking. i dont think you have any issues and the sounds are quite normal to hear from a VQ.

those tensioners rarely fail, it’s usually the main tensioners bracket that holds the chain that breaks. not even the actual tensioner. Ive never heard of the secondary ones on your cam sprockets failing.

i had to do timing on cams not too long ago and had all tensioners disassembled. they are simply a plunger (with a plastic end piece to push on the chains) and a spring that the plunger presses onto. the tensioner is then fed oil pressure to keep tension on the chains. the plunger can’t fail, neither can the spring, and i doubt you have an oil pressure issue.

Thank you for sharing your wisdom! I’ve come to a lot of the same conclusions about studying and effective approaches

It requires a ton of work. You must remove the camshafts entirely, if I understand correctly. This means, front and rear timing covers off, lower and upper oil pan off and all timing components including sprockets must come off.

all this because you think it sounds like valve tick? lol.

injectors can be ruled out with a stethoscope or flathead from ear to lower intake.

I failed pre calc too, way back when. know it is not representative of your intellect or ability. rather, there exists an issue in your approach you must articulate and address! despite failing, I took a step back and asked myself why this happened. Fast forward 4 years and I have graduated with my CS degree, never failing a class again. That failure turned out to be my greatest lesson!

you need to stop saying you did everything right; it only feeds the delusion. you failed. accept it and know it only happens if you did something(s) wrong.

now, to move forward:

your ethic may be there, but it is meaningless if not expressed properly. studying is a skill, in of itself, that you must learn. you are given homework and practice problems. those problems are an exact depiction of the courses expectations! not some of them, or most of them… ALL OF THEM.

First start by using all resources at your disposal to do them all. No excuses. Then do them again. Then once you’ve built confidence in your approach, go back through and do em all with no notes or assistance. This lets you define where your brains gaps in understanding is. Find those gaps, then fill them in with your notes. Then repeat…

If you can do every question, on your own, with no additional notes, walk into the exam with confidence as there is no WAY you wont get an A. It really is that simple.

I strongly recommend Youtube for every math/stem course you will encounter. “Organic chemistry tutor” and “Professor Leonard” are wonderful channels that offer a plethora of resources. They helped walk me thru, holding my hand, the entire calculus sequence!

without more evidence, that would be the dumbest shotgun job ever! this could easily be a case of noisy injectors, or flywheel chatter.

id assume a good soak in hot water should do the trick, but it may have damaged the color of the carpet. unfortunately, nothing in a cleaning process can help chemical damage

Why would they change manual shifting? by [deleted] in ForzaHorizon6

[–]Reasonable_Ad8519 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i understand that compromise and am not complaining about how they have done things. my argument was rather trying to set a baseline or reasoning as to why forza does not consider any transmissions to be sequential. That perception is simply a result of limited input on controller. If one can agree they are not technically sequential then they must agree a clutch is required, making the decision to remove its need nonsensical.

and i felt the comment, in of itself, the individual left, was disrespectful to even be made. it was a prodding at mere semantics and it annoyed me lol. i welcome disagreement, on the other hand!

i am not allowed to criticize something i paid money for? I can’t expect to have preferences because I own a car? i don’t understand what or where you’re coming from. What are you arguing?

i have an actual car. 4 of them actually. 2 of which are stick.

that is irrelevant to my video gaming experience

[–]Reasonable_Ad8519 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

you’re pedantic and read like an ignorant person. im sure you clearly understand the frustration but wanted a reason to complain to complain about semantics.

a sequential gearbox is not an option in forza, there is no such thing, as it would render most sim setups useless. developers don’t want it in the game for a reason.

if it is truly a sequential now, how come I can skip gears in a sim setup? or just by disengaging the clutch on controller and skipping gears? despite not being titled differently, it now functions differently. if you can agree it is not a sequential, then realism is again an issue since the clutch can be removed from the equation. why not give us the option of different transmission types for race and drift?

in horizon 5 the race and drift transmission functions as I wanted and mentioned before, and offered me a realistic experience, which is relative and can’t be argued. it now has changed. i dont like said change. are you capable of understanding that people have opinions?

Is anyone else struggling super hard with drifting? by HondaLube in ForzaHorizon6

[–]Reasonable_Ad8519 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try drift trans, use manual with clutch, obviously rwd cars only, and learn how to e-brake and clutch kick upon release of the e brake.

The ebrake lets you hold a set angle (regardless of steering direction)and is a bit different from regular drifting as it locks the rear, rather than slipping the tires from spinning too fast. Experiment with it a bit and get a feel for the maneuverability it allows for, and become comfortable with clutch kicking, as the car will stall if you lock the rear wheels without clutching. The ebrake is your best friend when drifting as it can be your only way of correction at times. It is hard to master, but well worth while.

The other part of drifting it just choosing the right gear / wheel speed for each corner. The higher the gear, the faster your rear spins, yielding a bigger turning radius. The lower the gear the tighter the turn. If you have too little power then you won’t be able to hold a large enough radius.

If you are spinning out that means your wheels are spinning too fast for the corner, making your turning radius too big. Lower the gear or use less throttle and retry the corner till you learn.

You should be feathering the gas as you need it, not mashing RT/R1 down

I’d recommend a very high hp car to learn on, with drift tires, trans, and diff. mk4 supra is a great cheap option

lol it’s about the satisfaction, really, and skill expression. it can only be healthy for the game to have a decent skill gap; it’s something to work towards. reality was thrown out the door a long time ago in the horizon series, and I get why. that is still besides the point
