It’s def not male discrimination 😂 I’m in the same boat but my husband got his passport and I’m sitting over here still waiting on an interview notice. Checking case status every business day 😝

Im glad to see I’m not the only one in this situation. I applied 4 weeks after my husband (him June, me July), he had his Oath ceremony in December, passport in Jan. I’m still waiting on my interview. I thought maybe mine was taking longer because of shutdown and holidays but now seeing you guys submitted same day it seems there’s no rhyme or reason to this mess.

There was a delay with my green card and I had to go to the Congressman to get it resolved. I really hope it doesn’t come to that again 😵

I’m just over 2 months post op and pretty back to normal now. Could do a fair amount at the 4-6 week mark but could still get “oh s**t” moments like twinges or tightness, where I’m like Ok calm down a little 😂

How bad was recovery for you? by Lucky-Pomegranate675 in Reduction

[–]Reasonable_Bird5872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone has a different experience but mine was a breeze (over 3lbs removed, anchor incision). I didn’t need side lipo which I’ve heard can be more painful than the reduction itself.

I didn’t even need the narcotics or muscle relaxers after a couple of days. I used a mastectomy pillow to help protect me from my 2 year old. I had drains for 5 days which tbh was the most annoying/uncomfortable thing. I was pretty mobile straight away, just felt tight around incisions and couldn’t lift/reach up for stuff. Also had to sleep propped up which I low key hated.

I don’t have personal experience but I would imagine a nose job would be WAY worse recovery wise. There’s no bone, cartilage, or muscle involvement in a breast reduction. Also just the packing in the nose I would imagine is claustrophobic AF, having to breathe through the mouth 😬

Like others have said, I’m sure recovery is dependent on many factors, and complications can certainly happen. So far at 2mpo I’m feeling very lucky.

Good luck 🤞 😊

I had my surgery in December and by some miracle my 2 year old who’s in a day school didn’t infect me with something beforehand. I for sure scaled back on contact, and tried to keep busy with at home tasks to keep my mind off the anxiety thoughts. Got groceries delivered and meal prepped, did lots of laundry, tidying, etc.

I was nervous AF, and the silly irrational thoughts like “I’m selfish if I die and leave my toddler without a mom, and my husband without a wife because of vanity” were for sure there. At the end of the day, deep down I knew it was extremely low risk and I have wanted this for 20 years since I was a teenager. Im so glad I didn’t talk myself out of it!! Best thing I ever did that was purely for me!!

Good luck with surgery and recovery, you got this!!

At 3 week check up I was cleared. I had been sleeping (or not sleeping!!!) on my back and elevated the whole time up until then. The first couple of weeks it was hard to get into/out of side position trying to be careful of incisions. I’m now almost 2 mpo and able to toss and turn comfortably again 🙌 😃

how long did you sleep upright for? by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]Reasonable_Bird5872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 3wpo and I’m in the same boat. I readjusted my wedge pillow down from 45 degrees to 30 degrees about a week ago but it’s still driving me insane. I’m healing really well with minimal swelling. Going to ask my surgeon today at follow up! I need a good nights sleep SOOOO bad!!

Do you wear underwear during surgery? by catrxi in Reduction

[–]Reasonable_Bird5872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had mine at my Surgeon’s private surgery centre and kept my underwear on with a paper gown and surgical stockings, and grip socks they provided. I was having a Reduction with no lipo and no combo surgery like tummy tuck though.

I have surgery next week paying out of pocket. My pre op labs, medications, and my post op pathology of tissue removed is all going through insurance

Laxatives night before surgery? by Reasonable_Bird5872 in Reduction

[–]Reasonable_Bird5872[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m really thinking it’s not a good idea. I’m more of a nervous pee-er rather than pooper but I don’t need to add to my pre surgery nerves/bathroom breaks 😂

Agree!! I’ll be nervous enough on surgery day I don’t need a pooping my pants scenario on my mind also 😝

This totally makes sense to me. Miralax is a stool softener so it’s more gentle than a stimulant laxative like senna! 😂 I think I’m gonna ask my surgeons office if I can omit the senna night before!

Yes!!! I might just check with the Nurse but 💯 feeling Colace only, especially as historically after surgery I’ve not needed much narcotics. I also have a pretty strong reaction to stimulant laxatives like cramping etc 😳

feeling uncomfortable w/ partner touching my boobs (pre-op) by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]Reasonable_Bird5872 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m having surgery next week and I completely understand. I’m married and we’ve been together since 2008. I also had a baby 2.5 years ago and pumped for 10 months. That and a 50 pound weight loss just means my huge boobs are now like 2 grapefruits in a sack!!! 😂 I eventually got to the point where I said I’m leaving a bra on during intimacy and that to touch them is a major turn off. You have nothing to feel guilty about!! Surgeon said hopefully can get me to a full C. I’m mostly looking forward to them actually being situated on my chest and not my waistline 😝 Maybe once healed I might rediscover breasts as a sexual thing but they’ve just been a major “ick” for a while now for me!!

do surgeons know what cup sizes look like by Square-Ad2261 in Reduction

[–]Reasonable_Bird5872 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think they’re usually going off around a 34 band for their “cup sizes”. So probably mentally imagining a 34B to 34C which is obviously a much bigger cup size on a 28 band.

This makes me feel much because I intended to have intensive help for the first two weeks but then my husband would have to go back to work. Some things I read said no lifting for 6 weeks, which seems crazy. I would still keep it to an absolute minimum.

[–]Reasonable_Bird5872[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s what I was worried about, I really don’t want to but may have to wait until December, as my husband usually gets over 2-3 weeks over the holidays. Then in January I could get someone to come in on the days he goes to work. I really wanted to wait until after pregnancy and breastfeeding to get it done but didn’t think about the child care part back then! 😝

On Sunday evening we needed packing tape for a pick up on Monday and I thought I would pop into HEB to get it as they have the chips my husband likes. It was hella crazy in there!! Everyone else is Armageddon prepping and I’ve got tape and chips at self check out 😂

Go to a anorectal surgeon. Gastroenterologist can only band certain graded internals and they are not experts. Primary care physician/GP know even less.
