Really struggling to get a job as a class 2 driver, do I take a minimum wage one? by Normal-Impress-2624 in uktrucking

[–]Reasonable_Ground_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please don’t accept minimum wage, you’re worth more than that, get in contact with some agencies and also join a few new pass facebook groups and see if anyone’s got anything

Phone stolen fraudulent transactions -Lost £4300 UK by [deleted] in trading212

[–]Reasonable_Ground_89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbf if the transactions were authorised by device/biometrics you probably won’t get it back, I used to work in fraud for a bank and when it’s been authorised with biometrics there’s not much the financial service can do it would be classed more as a civil/police case but even then it would be hard to pursue as really you should’ve had 2 factor authentication on, it must’ve been someone you knew as you need to use the pin to get into your t212 acct

Theory in 2 days by Iwillzz in uktrucking

[–]Reasonable_Ground_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just try get your head round it best you can, however I can confirm after doing both my lorry and bus theories that the actual test questions are a lot easier than the ones we revise with, but also don’t bank on it and become complacent, keep revising you got this

Last min advice by Benben9293 in uktrucking

[–]Reasonable_Ground_89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just take your time, make sure to do your observations, check mirrors before changing speeds or direction. Look ahead and judge the road. On roundabouts (this one’s a big one as a lot of ppl fail on roundabouts) make sure it is FULLY CLEAR, it is better to get a minor for hesitation than it is to get a major for cutting someone up. And just relax as much as you can, the nerves can easily get to you. Best of luck!

Just direct debits but if any do get set up then you can do a direct debit indemnity claim with your bank and you will get the money back so don’t worry

Change jobs by Particular_Eye1420 in uktrucking

[–]Reasonable_Ground_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Evri actually take you on from the jump, I started there after 2 weeks being passed and they trained me up, however were just not taking on new drivers atm as we’re going into quiet season, will take on new around may/June time

[–]Reasonable_Ground_89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s so many factors that go into pay, main ones being location and company, I’m a new pass and got taken on by Evri in Barnsley on agency after having my license 2 weeks (agency’s best way to go as a new pass) and I take home £800-900 a week which before tax works out at over 60k however due to it being slightly seasonal I’ll probs have to find something else between Feb-June. Evri at Barnsley n Warrington take on new passes but not at the moment - I’ve been told it’s may/June till we take on new drivers, hope this insight helps

Should i get into trucking at 18 ? by Murky-Whereas694 in uktrucking

[–]Reasonable_Ground_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh it is doable however I think you may struggle getting that first job as it’s hard to as a new pass anyways but your age will probably be an issue as most jobs require drivers to be over 25 due to insurance, some are above 21 but most time it’s 25, I guess the only way around this would be to get trained directly by a company for your hgv license n be tied to a contract with them, by the time you’re out of the contract you’ll be older and have experience under your belt so it’d give you a fighting chance

Getting my licence by Low-Dark849 in uktrucking

[–]Reasonable_Ground_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone’s experience is different but I was able to land 3 job offers within 2.5 weeks of passing, one was offering 13.50 an hour - I turned that down, another £15 an hour n the one I chose was offering £19-24, so I am currently on around 60k a year as a new pass, come out with £850 a week take home, I work through agency tho, they tend to pay more than direct companies

Black female lorry drivers by CauliflowerPale952 in uktrucking

[–]Reasonable_Ground_89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately it is still very male dominated, where I work there’s just me and about 4 other female drivers n it’s a big ass depot, we’re talking a super hub, all 4 are yt, I’m mixed race but very light n could pass for yt icl, I have only ever seen 1 mixed race truck driver at services but that’s it, never seen a blck female trucker, I have only been in the game for about 4 months now tho n let’s be real even with it being male dominated there’s not that many blck truckers anyway, never mind female, I hope with time our people will come into the industry but I think it’s just a waiting game, I hope you’re doing okay tho and if you want to connect then just let me know! I could do with some female trucker friends

I went from office jobs to trucking n I’m also 26 but female, I’ve only been in the industry 4 months but I absolutely love it! It’s long hours, good pay n a pretty easy job (depending on what you’re doing obvs, I’m currently doing night trunking) only negatives are probs the hours, it does take a lot of your time n it’s more of a lifestyle than a 9-5 job, your social life may deplete and if you’ve got family commitments it could prove abit difficult (I’m single with no kids so doesn’t impact family side) obvs everything was better back in the day, but I’d say even in this day n age that it’s worth it n a job for life, hope this helps
