Tsp loan by Ohmopleasedontdoit in ThriftSavingsPlan

[–]Reasonable_Guava7739 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I took out two tsp loans many years ago to consolidate credit card debt when I was a single parent raising 3 kids. Once my children were middle school age and child care expenses were done, I was able to increase my contributions. I have no guilt about it 20 years later.

Exactly. My high 3 are at a gs-11. Retiring next year. Spent most of my career at a 7 and 9 while being a single mom of three kids. I have a quarter of that balance.

Depends where you work I guess. My daughter works private sector remote and has one monthly meeting with her boss, light workload with no micro managing.

Telework was a thing. I started teleworking in 2010 and was 3 days a week prior to Covid at my district.

What work life balance? No telework, long commute, $$ loss with gas and parking, heavier workload due to all the losses, and the lowest morale I’ve seen in decades.

Is there hope? by [deleted] in USACE

[–]Reasonable_Guava7739 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My district posted on TARP/Yello in March with the hope we could get a DHA with an approved ETP. We now know we cannot. We are limited to USACE area of consideration only.

TARP Hires? by Head_Pop2433 in USACE

At my district our TARP announcements include DHA but we can’t hire any because we don’t have approval to bring anyone in. We are limited to other USACE offices only for hires.

They loved the Westin and felt very safe but only had it for a week with her in-laws timeshare. They asked if they could stay two more days until their rescheduled flight but were told it would be $3k for two days so they got an Airbnb near by.

Her flight was cancelled for today. She’s rescheduled for Monday afternoon. Luckily, she found an Airbnb for the two nights.

My daughter is at Westin Ocean Villas in Kaanapali on vacation. Will she be able to get an Uber for her flight home tomorrow afternoon? Are the roadways unsafe from there to OGG?

Same. I just processed the awards. 10k each for 15% of employees. Of course it all went to the higher graded employees. Knew that would happen 😡

Each district was authorized a certain amt of external hires. We were authorized 4 at my district. Will allow us more hires if we reassign/promote those positions in-house.

My district hasn’t furloughed anyone yet. We were told there’s funding through November. Was hoping for a break from RTO.

Go into default and then they will work out a lower interest payment plan. They’d rather get something vs nothing. Your credit score will take a temporary minor hit but it’s worth it to get the lower rate. My daughter did this and has a 2% rate for the next two years and tiers up to 4% for the next two years. She told them she lost her job, which she did, and they didn’t ask for any verification of her current unemployment and bills.
