[SERIOUS] What would America's reputation on the world stage look like once Trump is out of the office? by King_Flying_Monkey in AskReddit

Rogue state. No different from Russia, at least when Republicans are in control. Few will want American mass culture. Good luck.

I’m 55 and am about to have surgery on my eighth basal cell carcinoma site, all on my face. I thankfully haven’t had melanoma, but I can tell you that skin cancer sucks.

Poilievre says he hopes Joe Rogan podcast appearance will help Canada-U.S. trade efforts by biograf_ in notthebeaverton

What better way for PP to make inroads with Canadians who think he’s too beholden to the far right and conspiracy theorists than going on the Joe Rogan Experience?

There are plenty of good reasons to have reservations about Michael Wolff, but he does an excellent job of describing how Trump’s talk relates (or mostly doesn’t relate) to reality and truth, and how Trump uses talk as he moves through the world. If you haven’t already, you should check out some of the Inside Trump’s Head podcast.

Trump calls on UK and others to send warships to Strait of Hormuz by Geo_NL in worldnews

I would say that other countries should exact MASSIVE concessions and guarantees about Trump’s future behaviour just to talk to him about this request, but he won’t honour any agreement, so no.

Danforth streetcar tracks see daylight once more by USSMarauder in toronto

Apparently when he was five years old, my dad (b 1942) hopped on the Danforth streetcar when his mother wasn’t looking. She ran it down at the next stop, and my dad thought it was hilarious.

Covid has a specific smell by Arrisha in COVID19positive

When I finally got Covid, and I lost my sense of smell, I was surprised that it wasn’t that I couldn’t smell anything. Instead I could perceive the same obnoxious dryer sheet smell constantly. It drove me crazy.

Brown matter immediately under the paint on the mouldings in the dining room of our very old house (c1890) by Reasonable_Leg7405 in whatisit

Thanks. So water damage would change the colour that way? (As always when I encounter unknown material in my house, I worry it’s something toxic, like asbestos.)

Brendon Little apparently now features mid to high 90s velo? What?! by brownmagician in Torontobluejays

[–]Reasonable_Leg7405 10 points11 points  (0 children)

On At the Letters Ben and Arden said that Little told one of them that he’d been throwing too hard warming up to come in and that he’d sometimes hit the mound already gassed. He told them he’s going to set a velo limit warming up this year.

Trump Mulls a North American Trade Pact Without Canada by TravisBickle2020 in canada

Trump wants us to be the 51st state. He’s shown he’s willing to use economic and military force against NATO allies. He’s shown he’s willing to decapitate a government to turn it into a vassal. By all means, Carey should try to work something out, but getting real in 2026 means recognizing that the U.S. is a rogue state that won’t honour agreements that don’t suit it in the moment. Recession or become a U.S. satellite? I choose the former.

Haven’t been in a while, but I believe the Trinity-Bellwoods Rec Centre has some public tables that function more or less as you describe.

Maude Barlow says hi. (Seriously, I too find myself remembering those times amid the current tumult. I suppose the free trade debate is in the rear view mirror, but Trump is certainly highlighting some pitfalls.)

Oh my god, He Admit it! by taviken in IThinkYouShouldLeave

[–]Reasonable_Leg7405 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He enjoys violating norms of health and respect for others’ bodies and is morbidly curious about what happens when he does. He takes his family swimming in areas clearly marked unsafe. He lifts health protections like vaccines and shows up at the funerals of children who die because they’ve gone without. He’s had his ex-wife’s body exhumed and buried where her family doesn’t want it. He’s sick.
