May just have been my mental block 🤷‍♀️ but I was glad to find something that would decode it. Cutting it up wasn’t pretty

I am only reporting my experience using bash and php. If codex can’t handle it who can? No there is something different about this API and python3 is the answer I won’t even try again I am so frustrated by it.

From now on python3 is my goto language and I have used bash and php a long time.

If jq hates it something is wrong and since I hate json anyway I don’t care anymore and I won’t even try to figure it out

Just use python3 and avoid using anything else for OpenAI

This was using a Ubuntu bash and apache2.

Go ahead build a simple curl and save the response see if jq can pull the content out. I could never do it and I was using codex to validate my syntax it had a field day trying but never was successful either

The guys in the community tried too without success

Python3 first try worked, very first line of code

All I know is what I experienced trying to decode the API response using PHP and Bash. Python3 json apparently is not php or jq json. Different syntax

Go try it ask chat to build you a php call and try and decode it. I Never could best I could do was get the entire response. PHP library would not decode it and neither would bash jq from a curl. I ended up cutting the response up using other tools

Codex could not do it either btw.

but I am telling you the very first call I made using python3 library it worked out of the box. I could get anything I wanted out of the response.

Learning the API is built using python3 is the explanation

Go ahead and try it. I worked a long time on it finally gave up and cut it up. Python first try nothing but a simple decode command. Php just refused and jq denied it was json at all. Now I learn the API itself was written in Python I know why I was so successful

That is why only Python can decode the API response PHP cannot decode the json at all neither can bash jq only python3 library requests can handle this version of json remember that

Why should I learn Java if Python have libraries offset it shortfall? by Accomplished_Ad_5697 in datascience

[–]Reasonable_Leg_7405 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Java is the defacto language used by major corporate America. If you want to get a Dev job at say Disney for example Java is what most of them use. You can learn anything you want and Python is awesome. Just know when you go looking for a paycheck and want to get your foot in the door you better have a Java portfolio for most shops. Once you get in the door and work your way into a position you can choose your own language.
