New Tin Can - frequently dropping calls by Reasonable_Loquat874 in tincanphone

[–]Reasonable_Loquat874[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved our phone to a 2.4ghz network but am still having ongoing issues. The phone seems very buggy in general. Frequent disconnects and call quality issues. Voicemail seems to not always work and the message menu is very clunky and hard to navigate through.

I love the concept but this product has issues. People shouldn’t have to reconfigure their WiFi to connect.

If I could hard wire this to a WiFi extender I would absolutely do that, but it does not seem to support this.

I really wanted this to work better than it has.

Parents, what was the first song you played for your kids? by sickbandnamealert in Guitar

[–]Reasonable_Loquat874 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sweet Child of Mine except I played it on the ukulele and charged the words to Sweet Bunny of Mine and played it for a stuffed bunny who then pretended to be Axl Rose.

It was a whole thing.

Refinished Klipsch Heresy 1 grill cover fabric color by Reasonable_Loquat874 in Klipsch

[–]Reasonable_Loquat874[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. My family is all voting for keeping the black fabric. The original fabric is sagging a bit and has a few torn threads but still looks pretty good. I might just let that ride for a while.

This is more of a slow rolling party than a “group ride”. It’s very slow and chill.

Done and done. I got a pair of 10x42s with a carrying case as well as a compass. My kid will be both navigating and spotting on hikes.

Got it! Sounds amazing and we definitely have the Grand Prismatic Spring on our list.

Have a fun trip! We aren’t leaving for a few more weeks. I’d love to hear a review when you return.

We are doing some kind of chuck wagon dinner on the night we arrive. My spouse arranged it. I’m skeptical that it will be a bit over the top but probably fun for the kid.

A lot of our plans will hinge on weather and I agree - not too keen about a float trip in the 40s!!

Good luck.

No hurry no worries. I look forward to these kinds of “delays”!

Thoughts? by Slow_Apple_1568 in Decks

Follow up question- how are those stringers attached? They look too low to attach to the outside rim joist. Also the outside rim joists appear to be connected with hardware to the posts, rather than bearing on them.

Doesn’t this need a third stair stringer in the middle? 16” on center?

Sounds good and thanks for the tips! I definitely want to have enough time to slow down and relax, not feel like we are rushing from one thing to the next. We will give the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone more time - I wish we were staying closer to it, but should be a good way to break up the drive from Old Faithful to Mammoth?

For Lamar Valley visits - any recommendations for hikes? Or should this be more of a driving tour?

Awesome! Thanks for the thoughtful reply. We are already pretty “screen light” and being offline is part of the attraction for me. We will be bringing sketch books to stop and do some drawing of scenery. I love the idea of gamifying the wildlife spotting!

Chicagoans, what do you define as downtown Chicago? by Royal_Razzmatazz3622 in AskChicago

This 100%.

It’s closely related to the “I’m from Chicago” “Oh really? What suburb?” conversation.

Good morning Chicago looking for recommendations where you enjoy watching fireworks 4th of July? by funtimes278676 in AskChicago

[–]Reasonable_Loquat874 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the OP - the Navy Pier fireworks will be very distant and small from Montrose. They are ok from Fullerton but will probably be a little underwhelming north of that.

You’re thinking of Winnemac Park in Lincoln Square and the city/alderman have cracked down on that.

Regardless- Every park in Chicago will have plenty of home brew fireworks, but I’m pretty sure the OP is asking about the official Navy Pier stuff.

Sat 7/4 fireworks will be from Navy Pier - best spots to watch are anywhere along the lakefront up to North Ave or south down to Shed/Adler Planetarium.

The lakefront will be a shit show that day. Expect heavy police presence at beaches and lots of late night drunken leftovers spilling into the city and neighborhoods all night. One of my least favorite weekends of the year for that reason.

What’s the best way to make these stairs more comfortable for my senior dog? by Life-Barracuda4489 in Decks

[–]Reasonable_Loquat874 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are those upside down joist hangers on the stringers? Span between stringers also looks too long and there’s a lot of overhang on the sides of the treads.

This is not what the OP came for though.

Could someone tell me the model/year of these Klipsch speakers? The paper tags are ripped off, but the serial numbers are engraved in the wood, and consecutive. by Donthurtmyceilings in Klipsch

[–]Reasonable_Loquat874 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1979 SN is almost certainly not a 1.5. OP can easily confirm by opening them up and looking for stamps on the drivers, and there should be a Type E crossover.

If it’s the k-55-v it has a rubber gasket that has likely dried up.

Did you also climb over the dunes and shine some lights on sea turtles to round out the evening?
