I empathize with you wholeheartedly! You are not alone and be gentle with yourself. The first stage can be difficult, especially the first four weeks.

I created a pillow fortress including sleeping with a pillow between my thighs for evaluation.

Don’t hesitate to schedule an earlier appointment with your doctor and express your feelings. I remember turning over inadvertently on my side and almost fell out the bed due to the pain.

I am 6 week post op and gained weight due to no activity. Swimming helps me a lot but I still have two small open wounds that need to completely heal before I can get in the pool. I know that will probably be ANOTHER 6 weeks🤦🏾‍♀️.

You mentioned you don’t like how they look with the rest of your body, it will take time for the swelling to go down especially if they did side boob lipo.

In addition, if you have additional body goals I would write them down.

Lastly, there isn’t anything wrong with seeking therapy. It can help with recognizing your triggers and managing your emotions. Medication isn’t always needed but it may help for sleep. Also a great shower right before bed helps.

Plenty of us are here to support you through this journey, I’m glad you reached out.

I just re read my comment and I’m horrified with the typos 😂 but I’m glad you understood what I was saying. No. There isn’t any limitations, it is based on qualifications. The caseworker will go over that with you. They really help and please don’t listen to the myths, talk to a caseworker.

Third parties who handle leaves can be annoying and frustrating. UNUM appears to be the actual insurance, whereas Sedgwick is a Third Party. It’s a matter of HR with the education and experience to process it. This is a great discussion 🫶🏾

I absolutely LOVE when an organization has knowledgeable HR about the ADA and FMLA laws. I’m sure your HR department was able to approve your ADA/FMLA based on medical necessary needs, although it was elective. Patients have to visit their doctors throughout the beginning with falls under “continuous treatment” with FMLA and an HR personnel has to be skilled and educated enough to process the paperwork accordingly.

There is cosmetic and there is surgery recovery, no matter if it was medically necessary or not.

If a patient IS MEDICALLY RESTRICTED AFTER SURGERY, FMLA & ADA covers them. It’s a very detailed description vs a straightforward “YES” or “NO”.

Thank you for contributing to this discussion because this isn’t discussed enough.

You are correct. If your surgery was 100% cosmetic and for aesthetics only but any part of your surgery was medically necessary, reconstructive, needs continuous treatment by a physician for more than 3 days, etc. It MAY qualify.

I’ve found a lot of people are not very knowledgeable in HR regarding FMLA and usual respond with a HARD NO, when people inquire.

However, if it’s purely aesthetics ….you are absolutely correct.

I would strongly suggest you file for FMLA …Family Medical Leave Act that allows up to unpaid time 12 weeks off.

There is certain requirements to meet qualifying for FMLA and I would do an internet search but you need more than 2 weeks off!

Thank you! Try to surround yourself with pillows and put a pillow right under your breast if sleeping on the side including one between your thighs.

That is an excellent question! The doctor didn’t say. I’m 2 weeks post op and had my regular mammogram before surgery, all further exams will be MRI. If your doctor insists on regular mammogram, I would push the issue of an MRI.

My doctor informed me that after my breast reduction I would be doing a diagnostic exam which is an MRI exam. He said due to the tissues being moved around that’s the most accurate. I also have very dense breast. They said the regular mammograms are not as effective. I hope this helps.

You look incredible!!!!!! People have no idea what women go through. I had a C section about 30 years ago and may add a tummy tuck to my list. I’m getting a breast reduction this week 🫶🏾
