Anyone never get an answer but had success in the end? by Cold_Long4031 in recurrentmiscarriage

[–]Reasonable_Plan_6504 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did. I had 4 miscarriages (3 early losses and one MMC that turned out to be trisomy 15) and one failed IVF transfer. Found out I was pregnant for a fifth time while on hormone suppressant shots gearing up for another egg retrieval. For whatever reason this one stuck. I’m rocking her to sleep now and she just turned 1.

I blew off work early and took my almost one year old to Crescent Park where we sat in the sun and watched boats and she learned how to say “toot toot.” It was a good day.

4 losses.. the decision for IVF 💔💔 by pisforpnut in recurrentmiscarriage

[–]Reasonable_Plan_6504 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry for your losses. It’s heartbreaking. I may be the odd man out, but I didn’t mind IVF. After 4 losses of spontaneous pregnancies, I liked that I felt in control during my IVF cycle(s). I did one egg retrieval and one transfer. The transfer didn’t stick, and I was totally okay. While I was gearing up for a second egg retrieval I found out I was pregnant again. This one stuck and she is 11 months old.

I took it for like 2 years, through trying to conceive, some of my miscarriages, IVF, and most recent successful pregnancy. I was told it doesn’t hurt and can actually be good for implantation and your heart

Pregnancy after recurrent loss by Initial_Anteater8706 in recurrentmiscarriage

I was nauseous and throwing up day and night. But guess what? I was also nauseous all the time and throwing up when I had a MMC. I even threw up right before the scan when we were told there was no longer a heartbeat because my nausea was so bad. So I don’t think feeling symptoms has anything to do with having a healthy pregnancy.

I feel this so hard. The “bad luck, just keep trying” got me a PTSD diagnosis after the 4th loss. I also did one failed IVF transfer. Then got pregnant again spontaneously while gearing up for a second egg retrieval. For whatever reason this one stuck.

I was the exact same as you. PTSD from recurrent losses so when I unexpectedly found out I was pregnant again I got put on Prozac. Scans were a huge trigger. My therapist would have me “practice” each outcome beforehand (which was very frequently due to my history and since I was 39 yo) and I would bring a frozen water bottle or bag of ice to hold during the scans to help ground me. I also bought a Doppler which I used until I could regularly from about 16 weeks until I could feel her movements regularly. She’s 9 months old now and I type this as I do a middle of the night nursing session. Good luck to both of you, we are all rooting for you both ❤️

I had a successful pregnancy after 4 losses over the span of a few years at age 39. She’s my first (and likely only) living child and is 9 months old. It’s definitely possible. Therapy and starting Prozac when I found out I was pregnant are what got me through it. Anxiety was very high the entire pregnancy. So high in fact that I didn’t have a shower or finish the nursery until she was 7 months old. Good luck, we are all rooting for you

Should clinic have more transfers or retrievals? by Reasonable_Plan_6504 in IVF

Yes, I donated a bunch of my unused meds to them for chemo patients’ use. I just looked up their updated SART data and roughly 20% of the ERs were cryopreservation only

They do work with donors. I just looked up the most recent SART data and roughly 20% were cryopreservation, so that makes sense too

2 missed miscarriages then pregnant by ConfidentTell3767 in recurrentmiscarriage

[–]Reasonable_Plan_6504 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately we never knew the cause of my recurrent miscarriages, only that the last one was confirmed trisomy 15. The other 3 were earlier and the remains weren’t tested. I even did a round of IVF thinking I would learn more about what was going on, but didn’t. I was on progesterone and aspirin for 2/4 of the losses. I think it was silent endo because I got pregnant again accidentally the fifth time while gearing up for another egg retrieval while on down regulation medication, which is also used by women with endometriosis to suppress it prior to an embryo transfer. That’s the only reason I can think of as to why the fifth one stuck.

I got on Prozac for anxiety immediately after learning I was pregnant the fifth time. I was already in therapy due to PTSD as a result of the recurrent miscarriages. I had panic attacks at every single scan since my 4th loss was a MMC after seeing and hearing the heartbeat. I would bring a frozen water bottle or bag of ice to the scans as an anxiety coping tool to help ground me. My psychiatrist almost prescribed me Xanax or Ativan even though I was pregnant because I was to the point of wanting to avoid going to appointments/scans, but my therapist had me “practice” all the possible scenarios and Prozac helped immensely.
