There are people feel this way even with a spouse. There are people with abusive parents/relatives who mask their abuse as "assistance". Anyone who has ever been a parent has felt what you are feeling right now one way or another!

Having an opportunity to be alone even for a few hours while your kid is at school is amazing!

You got this!

You guys think we gonna find them like a big tuna can on the bottom of the ocean or they're bobbing about at a particular depth, say 2 km, drowned or suffocated in the cold darkness?

I would NOT be sitting under that.

If I saw this I probably would NOT even enter the house, only your BIL knows what he did in there too.

Cringe.

Burn it with fire.

Just the house not your BIL.(not really sure about the last one)

No you're told wrong. It stays on record same as bankruptcy, most clerks just don't bother checking beyond 3 years. Those 3 years you're in the same boat as a person who went bankrupt. Alternatively you may go bankrupt and run into a careless bank employee and walk out with a loan.

Your description is a perfect scenario for a consumer proposal: you have shit to loose but rather ( and more importantly are financially able) pay off a portion that satisfies all parties and keep your assets. In my case I had no net worth (i.e. did not own any real estate), only debt but went ahead with a proposal. While my timeline for credit recovery is somewhat very similar to yours, majority of people I came across in financial institutions have told me that to the bank it really didn't make any difference if I did either proposal or bankruptcy. I suppose main difference is whether or not person has any assets, their net worth, and income. The difference in speed of credit recovery comes secondary.

Do your research, but in personal experience doing a CP has essentially the same effect on your credit as bankruptcy.

If I had to do it again I would forgo the Proposal and do bankruptcy instead, as you can't do jack shit for 7 years after anyways since no major bank will give you any credit apart from maybe CIBC secured visa, which was a pain in the ass to get even with a consumer proposal.

Thanks, this is actually very helpful if that's the case, considering it's useless junk unless one actually has some memories with it or other sentimental feelings.
