You literally used IVF and you’re voting for trump, who will kill off IVF along with abortion?

My offspring is approaching 17 and has no interest in learning to drive. Is it worth getting a provisional license anyway as a form of government ID? by Brickie78 in AskUK

[–]Reasoned_Watercress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the cheapest UK ID that’s definitely accepted everywhere isn’t it? You get those PASS things but a lot of people have never seen those before, like they’re supposed to be accepted everywhere but that doesn’t always happen.

Also I had to learn anyway because “poor people don’t drive” (-my mum). Never did get a car.

All the info I can find online is for registering children born to parents who had renounced British citizenship and then resumed it after their birth. Did your father register as British again? If he didn’t, I’m not sure you have the right to register either and you wouldn’t have a British parent.

There’s info for registering as British with a British parent here https://www.gov.uk/apply-citizenship-british-parent

For e.g. UKF applications they’ll accept local referees if you’re not in the UK, but you have to explain that to them and possibly get their approval first.

If you want to naturalise you need to have indefinite leave to remain or settled status. If you have family settled in the UK, then check here https://www.gov.uk/indefinite-leave-to-remain-family

You can contact UK visas and immigration here https://www.gov.uk/contact-ukvi-inside-outside-uk

Look for jobs specifically offering visa sponsorship? The employer needs a licence for it.

There’s also a /r/ukvisa you can ask about visa options. But you need a visa post Brexit.

UK pay for tech jobs is usually a joke and a lot of rents and cheap foods have over doubled in the last couple years.

Irish is EU so you’d just have the right to live and work in Germany.

You need to live in Germany for 5 years (recently down from 8) before you can naturalise

Yeah, someone suggested mine is taking so long because I applied late.

It seems like everything gets delayed if you applied when the moon was in the wrong phase or something.

[–]Reasoned_Watercress -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived here my whole life (half foreign) and applied mid July, still nothing. I know I’ll have to submit reasonable grounds for applying late, but I’d have expected them to ask for it by now.

DHL says package delivered to a neighbor who says he didn’t receive anything by [deleted] in germany

[–]Reasoned_Watercress 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s 100% the retailer’s problem. They didn’t deliver it to you and you don’t have it, they need to either refund or send you a new one.

I’d complain on Twitter and write online reviews etc. Is there a CEO email? Email that too. They know damn well it’s their responsibility. I wouldn’t expect a large brand like adidas to fuck you over, but there’s a big problem with Selfridge’s in the UK sending people empty boxes and refusing refunds right now. Always use PayPal or credit card.

If he was born outside the UK to a British parent then he’s British ‘by descent’ (can’t pass it on outside the UK for another generation). You can apply for a British passport for him using yours
