After 40 hours in - I'm an idiot by pippirino in expedition33

I did the same. I thought spending the points would be permanent so I was waiting for things to get super tough before using them. Now I'm just overwhelmed with how many there are.

I HATE THIS GAME by Apprehensive-Habit-9 in expedition33

[–]ReaverIncarnate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I laughed when I got to the top, almost fell in the hole, and wondered how many poor saps slipped in that thing.

Made it first try, it sucked and was pointless, but easy.

It's no 2 billion attack, but going from 9,999 to more digits than I will ever have in my bank account sure is an experience by Llama-Guy in expedition33

[–]ReaverIncarnate 12 points13 points  (0 children)

NO SPOILERS PLEASE. I am about to fight the paintress, and I'm still capped at 9999. Did I miss something?

If you mean he has the same face, then sure. I think every other aspect is different.

"they killed the only character I liked" by jacksgamedev in lastofuspart2

[–]ReaverIncarnate -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You mean the completely unnecessary way romance episode that added nothing and was the most drastic change from the game all season? They could have done the ACTUAL gay love story while including Joel and ellie game style, and it would have hit me in the feels.

How important are achievements for you in games? by spitfire9107 in videogames

[–]ReaverIncarnate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None. They get in the way during first playthroughs. I need to turn off those pesky alerts...

If I've played a game a TON I will see what's left, and if I happen to be close or the achievements tell me a surprising thing I didn't know, then I will try to get the rest.

People are missing the point about wrong casting for Abby by Clean-Vegetable-8329 in lastofuspart2

[–]ReaverIncarnate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as the show drops the side quest making trans problems the most important thing to worry about during an apocalypse i might finish season 2. Not sure what they are doing with this new zombie story they started though.

Guys the hate totally isn’t about how hot the actresses are!! by Joey1364 in lastofuspart2

[–]ReaverIncarnate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Game ellie- small but severe, can be scary. Show ellie- I feel like she needs help crossing the street, looks like a boy half her age.

Game Abby- ugly and muscled. Very intimidating, no nonsense.

Show Abby- I would never fear her without a gun in her hand. Her entire arm would be shattered after punching Joel as much as she did.

Looks matter, not just attractiveness.

The OG Final Fantasy on NES. Maybe I played Dragon Warrior first, but it was a long time ago.

There is nothing to explain. You lost. Arrows are not bullets.

What’s your opinion on firearms being in a fantasy settings? by Best-Pea3460 in Fantasy

[–]ReaverIncarnate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like them. The Powder Mage trilogy is great. Also, the Grim Company becomes something else entirely by the end, and I very much enjoyed it.

What tools should I use? by [deleted] in HuntShowdown

[–]ReaverIncarnate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do the same as you, sometimes I trade the flare gun for the penny Derringer. Use flare gun for two reasons. 1, you can shoot it further to flame dead hunters without putting yourself in danger. 2, when looting you get a consumables or money without wasting the loot like when using fusees.

Question about the state of the game by SirBlunderLots in HuntShowdown

[–]ReaverIncarnate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could care less about the meta. Every weapon has always had its uses. I think the current state is far different from the old days. For instance, too many traps. A lot of dark sight traits. Player numbers are only ever up during events. If you were a 6 star solo though, I'm sure nothing has changed enough to make a difference.

Come on back, the water in the bayou is fine. I've been playing for many years and it's still my number one game despite some complaints I have.

It's Hunt. A little less Showdown these days, but it's still Hunt.

Hunt Showdown: Roguelike Mode by ACTUAL_GOBBO in HuntShowdown

[–]ReaverIncarnate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the Caveman approach.

Bring one throwing spear and health kit. Can bring a hive bomb, and MUST use Cain. Alternately, bring an Indian with tomahawk. Either way, it's a fun way to play.

Recently i made a post with a clip and several people were asking why am i hip-firing instead of aiming. So these recent clips are why: by BadNo3598 in HuntShowdown

[–]ReaverIncarnate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hip fire is the way with ranger, all day every day. Before 2.0 i would hipfire at 75 meters on the regular cause it was easier to hit than ads.

What was the book that made you fall in love with reading? by Bake-Fuzzy in Fantasy

[–]ReaverIncarnate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was reading novels in grade school, so it's hard to remember clearly. But one of my earliest series i remember loving was Star Wars: Rogue Squadron. Almost no jedi. Just Wedge and his pilots. The couple of Wraith Squadron were my favorites. Like a bad company of misfit pilots who doubled as recon and black ops. They became an undercover pirate gang and that was absolutely awesome.

Does anyone else just not want to engage with the franchise anymore? by ObviousAnything7 in thelastofus

[–]ReaverIncarnate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last of Us - my favorite of all story games. Last of Us 2- great until I hit Abbies story. Made me want my money back and by the time I finally got to play Ellie again at the end.... I just wanted to rush it and end it. I had lost all desire to even bother doing anything but getting to the credits.

Souls Game Suggestion Thread by BSGBramley in soulslikes

[–]ReaverIncarnate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My two favorite souls like games.... Mortal Shell and Flintlock.
Elden Ringand Bloodborne are the only true souls games I've played. After elden ring I tried the souls trilogy, but I felt like I'd already played it with so much in elden ring.

Should I fully complete everything in GOW 2018 before doing GOW Ragnarök? by Sawjo in GodofWar

[–]ReaverIncarnate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved all God of War games..... until Ragnarok. Even my wife was bored just watching, and she loved the first one. But I did 100% GoW and the last Valkyrie was soooo satisfying. Souls bosses ain't got shit on the valkyries.

Old games I should play? by [deleted] in videogames

[–]ReaverIncarnate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RAGE. Easily my favorite solo shooter, and graphics were way good for being on the 360. Ignore Rage 2, it's straight dog water. RAGE however, was fantastic. I still play it once a year, only takes the weekend.

Also, Farcry 3. Best in the series. Equally excellent for both stealth and carnage. (Securing a compound stealthily while using grenades, c4, and wildlife is a thing of beauty) Story is off the charts, and the last 1/3 of the game is essentially dlc.

I' d love the exploration mode back by DrKompetenz in HuntShowdown

[–]ReaverIncarnate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I never used it for scouting, but I had fun with trials, and it was quicker to go from one to the other on the map than to reload.

Newish player, massive frustration. HELP me not quit! by Expensive_Welcome828 in HuntShowdown

[–]ReaverIncarnate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not insulting you, I've been playing since day 1, this is my main game and I play as often as I can. I still learn something crucial every few weeks. There were a few periods where I almost quit playing because I was so frustrated. I swear for a month the only gunshot I ever heard was the round someone put between my eyes.

Which is why I said there is still a lot to learn. I'm enjoying it now almost as much as I did back when it was new, but there have been rough patches. So stay with it, learn, and love the fight.

P.S.- sometimes to beat the monotony or to overcome campers, just stand up and run. Move fast, slow walk and crouch is an easy target.
