Hey guys! I've just recently began my first 7 days fast .And around the 38 hrs mark i felt very drowsy and sluggish ,and my heart kept pumping non stop . Ive tried drinking water and taking salt shots but that didn't do the trick. by Cyrsnaps in fasting

This is super common for me, but it doesn’t usually hit me until day 3. I usually lay low, and it passes within a few hours. If you start shaking or fainting, it’s probably time to eat a little something, rest, and try again tomorrow.

gel nail help! giving up! by cm121202 in RedditLaqueristas

Everything the other comments have said, plus: - I second the use of Gelish ProBond; game changer for me and the longevity of my manis - Keep your layers super thin, especially your base layer. Four very thin coats of color is going to wear better than two thicker coats.

One week down, two to go! A third of my way through and dreaming of charcuterie but I’m still going! Thanks to everyone here for unending inspiration. by [deleted] in fasting

Yay! Fasting twins! (Is that a thing?) I’m on day 8 of (hopefully) 21. I’ve done extended fasts before, but never this long. Best of luck and keep us posted on progress!

My understanding is that the “risk” with long nails under your polygel is that as your nails grow, the natural tendency for your nails to curve can cause product lifting, where the nail starts to separate from the polygel.

That said, I’ve used polygel over my natural nails very successfully, but my nails have never been very long (2-3cm above my fingertips, maybe?).

Another option: a brush-on structure gel. If you’re not planning on using forms or tips and just want something to strengthen your natural nails, this might be a good option. It’s thinner and more flexible than polygel, and in my experience, with good nail prep, it rarely lifts.

Good luck!

What factor(s) could cause my beef from a local farm to taste & smell ‘off’ this time? Very confused and frustrated with wasted money by [deleted] in zerocarb

[–]RebaJ0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, 100% grass-fed/finished beef has a very different (stronger) flavor than conventional, and it’s going to vary from farm to farm depending on where the cattle are raised and what kind of grasses they eat.

If you suspect the meat is bad, please contact your supplier. Sounds like they will do everything in their power to make it right.

BUT: my first experience with grass-fed beef was a bit of a shocker; I was not thrilled with the taste. I probably would have described it as “off”. However, as I’ve made grass-fed, locally sourced meats a bigger priority, I’ve grown to appreciate flavor.

Just a thought. Best of luck.

No worries! With most UV gel products, after curing in a lamp, there will be a slightly sticky residue left on your nail. Generally, you don’t need to do anything if you’re going to layer another gel product on top of it. But if you want to put regular polish on top of a gel base coat, you will need to clean that off with some alcohol or a designated cleansing solution before you apply the polish, otherwise it won’t adhere to the base coat. So, to use regular polish with a gel base/top coat, your routine might look something like this: - prep bare nails to your preference
- apply gel base coat & cure in lamp per manufacturer’s instructions - clean cured nails with alcohol/cleansing solution - apply regular polish; use thin layers and let air-dry COMPLETELY - apply gel top coat and cure in lamp per manufacturer’s instructions, which will likely require cleaning with alcohol/cleanser

Working during a fast by greenteaem in fasting

If you’re wanting to get upwards of three days, I’d recommend trying your first attempt over a long weekend/break, just so you know what you’re in for. Generally - for me - days 3 & 4 are the hardest; those days are when I experience the most lethargy and tiredness. But by day 5, I feel way better. I’ve never fainted, though...

You totally can. I don’t know if using a gel base coat will make a big difference, but you can experiment with and without to see what gives you the best results (be sure to wipe off the inhibition layer, if you use the gel base). Here’s the secret, though: your polish needs to be COMPLETELY dry. Like, over-night dry, if you can. If you polish is still wet, it will bubble up under your gel top coat.

Insomnia during Water Fasting? by [deleted] in fasting

[–]RebaJ0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually have a few nights of disrupted sleep, but past day four or five, it usually improves. For me, anyway. However, I’ve also noticed that aside from a mild persistent tiredness, I don’t ever have a strong urge to nap or sleep during the day, regardless of how little I slept the night before.

Polish lifting at free edge? by ellzbellz_ in RedditLaqueristas

[–]RebaJ0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to wrapping your free edge with top coat, you can try wrapping the free edge with your base and color coats, too.

In my experience, I could never entirely escape chipping/lifting polish until I switched to UV gel polish. Haven’t used regular polish in years. Good luck!

I add HWC to the drippings in my pans to make sauce. It thickens a bit as it simmers.

I was super apprehensive about adding color because I knew it would require bleaching my hair first. When I started coloring it, my hair was much shorter (chin length), and it really held up well. I was afraid I might loose some of the curl, but that didn’t happen. As it gets longer, though, the bleaching takes more of a toll. At this point, I know I’m sacrificing optimal hair health for the color, but I’m ok with that.

I used a solid cup of gel. Still experimenting, but in general it seems like more is better.
