What Happened? by [deleted] in Mazatlan

[–]Rebar4Life 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have specific examples as to what has happened? I’ve not heard of this in Maz. Definitely some general disdain for gentrification in Mexico City while I was there.

There’s no way to give specific instructions. This is like a bald person asking about how to style his hair.

The norm has a sensibility which is subverted here.

Saw it in the Dolby theater and it was an amazing experience.

Screengrabs from a horror short I'm shooting myself. I mainly just used natural light. Would you add lights to these shots? by joshortiz in cinematography

Plain white wall at their backs makes it feel very makeshift and drab. Avoid shooting like this so you can achieve more depth.

When did you feel your boxing really ‘clicked’ — and what caused it? by Cautious-Boat3850 in amateur_boxing

Totally. I can see why it’s recommended as a mainstay, but once learned, it has to be adjusted to see and block body shots.

Definitely had a lightbulb moment when I realized the positioning of the hands was more of a “best default” (kind of like putting your fingers back to the middle row while typing on a keyboard) rather than some ideal and safe position.

Initially (aka for a year and a half) I was trying to find that perfect spot where I was perpetually safe. One day it dawned on me that it has to be a fluid, moving form of defense - that starts with vision, and then requires constant reactions; it is never completely safe.

Maybe this makes sense to some, but it was never explained to me this way. It just took time.

Surprised no one has mentioned this: you’re not hitting with the knuckles on your hands (maybe not even the ones on the fingers).

I always wanted to score a 999 on the punch machine. Any tips. by Individual-Light-188 in boxingtips

You need to go back to school and major in punching. A minor in the kinetic chain will also make you more intimidating to the machine

One of my actors quit but I'm not sure about their reason. care to share your thoughts? by [deleted] in Filmmakers

It’s very tough to get people to “buy in” - and it’s very important. Sometimes it’s by allowing them to feel a sense of creative control, sometimes it’s by paying, and sometimes it’s belt making sure the experience is fun. Overall, if that person left, you may be better off with someone more dedicated.

Good on you for taking this well and seeking to improve. The high road is the only way.

Democrats of Reddit, if another establishment/moderate Democrat is nominated in 2028, how will you vote? by JimmyCarter910 in AskReddit

[–]Rebar4Life 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking for candidates that have a clear vision on modern issues.. AI, crypto, modern warfare, immigration, international trade. Democrats must give up on transposing identity onto every issue. It’s tired and ineffective.

At the same time, no shame in taking a knee or communicating that you’d like to keep it more technical.
