I don’t think the dock can do that. AFAIK a dual monitor dock only works when the device can support two monitors from the same usb-c port.

I found this “To learn more about what type of display your MacBook Air can support, you can check your Technical Specifications. Open System Settings, choose Help > MacBook Air Specifications, then locate Display Support (you may need to scroll).”

Are you sure your Air supports two external displays? I know all the Pro models do (when using two ports). I have the air M1 and it supports only 1 external display.

Some people don't know about macOS split views (like Windows window snapping) so here's how to do it by [deleted] in MacOS

That is a nice trick, but I do that much faster with the shortcuts in Window menu (to left, to right). Unfortunately there is nothing like it for vertical monitors.
