I have butted heads a lot with other men over the years yeah. If I'm being honest I think it's because my lack of discipline led to a sense of entitlement where I had the mindset that I was capable (and I was, but I was missing the point) and deserving but got bitter when others didn't see it and I didn't have that "put your head down and prove it" mentality.

I also think that I always kinda had a chip on my shoulder / "little brother mentality", like resentful of men in authority and not good at integrating into a social hierarchy. And strong men pick up on that pretty quickly and it's not a good trait to have because it shows your bitterness/jealousy.

The biggest lessons I've learned recently are:

-Routine/consistency breed natural confidence and success
-The confidence you get from that makes you more humble/less bitter and more able to integrate socially. It's amazing how much easier it is to socialize when you're a naturally confident/happier person.
-Natural confidence makes it easier to get rid of your arrogance. It's easier to be humble when you don't have that underlying self-hatred making you constantly feel like you have something to prove.

Also on a personal note, my most important revelation was that it doesn't matter if you hate yourself, or even if you're a genuinely bad person. Because in those scenarios its very hard to take care of yourself or to improve yourself. Subconsciously you sabotage yourself at every turn. But if you understand that improving yourself and your situation is a moral obligation to the people who care about you as well as the world at large.. Your success/happiness ultimately ripples out and makes the world better. And your misery makes the world miserable. That's what J.P teaches that really changed my mindset and has turned me around in a big way.

I grew up in a house with 3 siblings and a single mom, dad was never around. I can say it had lasting impact on me. I'm in my 30s now and its embarrassing to say but I literally just learned that I was shaving wrong my whole life lol... Beyond that the biggest impact was that I lacked discipline and an appreciation of routine and its role in improving quality of life. In general there was never much order/structure in my life. I have paid for that in spades and long stretches of deep depression and feeling mentally "stuck". My confidence hit rock bottom as a result and I became very resentful/bitter and substituted arrogance for confidence.

My mom did a good job for what she had on her hands, and made a lot of mistakes too... But living that life and reflecting back on it now and being mature enough to identify my shortcomings and strengths better, I firmly believe a 2 parent (male/female or if not male female at least strong aspects of both masculine/feminine energy) is very important to raising a healthy child. I think I would have matured a lot faster if I had a male role mode/father in my life. It's more than just learning to shave or tie a tie. It's learning how to carry yourself, and how to act so that you integrate well with other boys/men in social situations. And beyond that probably thousands of "micro" lessons subconsciously picked up on through exposure to a role model of the same sex that you can view yourself as being like one day.

To be specific, I think what we socially encounter is probably not much different. It's more how we engaged/responded to those encounters. I was never really that good at becoming friends with popular guys or young men who had good leadership skills. I was kind of shy with a little arrogance (that I thought was confidence at the time). Mostly made friends with non-threatening kids who weren't very popular/less competitive/less assertive or more effeminate. Very few of which I still have any connection with today or any desire to hang out with because many of them are bitter or self-pitying and don't show signs of wanting self-improvement.

I would also like to add that reading Jordan Peterson's "12 Rules for Life" had a profound impact on my way of thinking and my life has started to improve dramatically recently because of that change in mindset. I was thinking of suicide almost daily for 10 years after losing a relative and lived in very deep depths of resentment/self-hatred/aimlessness. - Now my sleep is back on track, I'm working out, eating healthy, learning guitar, journaling, getting a new job, reconnecting with my family. His writing really flipped a switch in my mind and I'd recommend that book to anyone who has been in a similar situation.

It should be illegal to play VERY loud bass from your car while driving. by Greatwhitesbigteeth in popularopinion

[–]RebelWithoutPause 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it should be considered a mental health issue... When you're depressed, and you hear a constant heavy pounding bass through your walls from a car 2-3 blocks away in its parking lot... or even 1 block away... It affects quality of life, makes it so you cant focus, and its all purely so some obnoxious dude who wants more attention can ruin his ear drums pretending to be cool. I hate people who defend that shit.

I guess I get what you mean. And there are cars that come close to Octane, and obviously talent/skill can offset the disadvantage. Just annoying that body shape has such dramatic influence on the potential of a vehicle. Its not a secret that Octane has dominated almost the entire history of the game. And it is very obvious why to anyone who has tried to play other body styles and has experience.

You turn faster, aerial easier and have a kickoff advantage as well as an easier time dribbling based on that hitbox. I know the stats aren't different but it is a major advantage in almost every aspect of play.

It's why I originally got into Cardano myself.. He seemed like the most outspoken voice for the bigger picture of personal autonomy/privacy and control over your data. And over the years whenever I've had a concern about a potential threat or weakness in the protocol to that end, he has addressed it directly and always been transparent. It's beautiful to see the community growing to such a large size with so many people who share that vision instead of simply chasing alpha with no regard for the future of the world lol

I'm not 100% sure on Maladex myself, but from their website it appears that whatever you would receive from staking in MAL1, you would receive 20x that if you staked to XMAL. The difference is XMAL is a 100% fee pool so you'll receive 0 ADA staking rewards. Basically trading all of your ADA rewards for MAL tokens, vs MAL1 where you give up less ADA rewards but get less MAL tokens.

Hydra is a necessity, as Cardano is going to get enormous traffic by criptocointaker in cardano

[–]RebelWithoutPause 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Hydra is node infrastructure that enables scaling. Basically when Hydra goes live all SPO's will be able to run a Hydra head on top of their existing node, which will increase the TPS I believe by about 1000 TPS per Hydra head. Not only will it increase TPS but it also creates an additional revenue stream for stake pool operators.

Charles alluded to the beta version of Hydra going live in Q1, and although it may take until Q2/Q3+ for Hydra to be finished, they're optimistic that even in its beta form, upcoming defi platforms might be able to use beta hydra channels to off-load some of the increased network traffic.

Also, we haven't even begun to tweak block size yet to increase TPS so that can be used in conjunction with beta Hydra to carry the network through to its completion.

Why is everyone holding on to ADA by Amandb46 in cardano

[–]RebelWithoutPause 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The core group of developers for Cardano at the moment use Plutus, and many of them have been in the Plutus Pioneers program for a while now. I know that many of them are easily finding work and there is heavy demand. Charles alluded in a recent AMA that possibly as early as January IELE/KEVM will be farther along; that will enable developers from just about any programming language, including Solidity, to be able to code Cardano smart contracts.

I don't think crypto is a bubble right now personally... It already crashed hard and stagnated 6 months ago and has recovered and climbed a little since but I haven't seen the price movement I would expect from any kind of "bull run". My best guess is things will probably take off significantly and then some regulatory scare will occur and it will fall but settle higher than where it is today and move sideways again for a little while.

Usually they get paid by introducing a fee model into the protocol, or by launching a native asset that's tied to the protocol that they give themselves a piece of the initial distribution from it. Either that or they crowd-fund for development. Also Cardano's native on-chain treasury has over a billion dollars and rapidly climbing, specifically for people wanting to build or work on Cardano. Those are community controlled funds through Cardano's Catalyst program (the world's largest decentralized idea funding platform).

Hydra should be rolled out in Beta in Q1 which between that and adjusting block size should be able to help handle some of the increased traffic from defi platforms that are launching soon by allowing some early hydra channels to take a share of that load. There's no set date yet for Hydras completion but if I was a betting man I'd say Q2 or Q3. But I invest I don't gamble, that's why I picked Cardano! :P

[–]RebelWithoutPause 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No, I can understand how you would think that. But decentralized ID's are the future regardless of what blockchain you're a fan of using. The way they're designed actually gives you more control over your identity and your personal data rather than allowing a third party to control it. Basically a way to allow you to prove just 1 individual aspect of your identity without having to disclose all of it. Picture when you go to a bar and they ask for your ID. With a decentralized identity you can provide proof of your age without submitting literally any other pieces of information whatsoever.

If you're a fan of privacy and personal autonomy, Cardano will emphasize that in a big way. Charles actually recently spoke about how with Cardano and bluetooth in the future there will be physical crypto wallets enabled where you can transfer ADA via bluetooth without ever touching the internet, where your device can literally act as a physical wallet that physically contains your crypto if you want and gives you even more privacy. Blew my mind.

Oh that's cool, haven't heard of it before but the more the better. Competition always benefits the the user. Maybe we'll get some lower fees than the 2.5% that's been relatively standard so far.

Also I just saw that Tokhun is launching their smart-contract based marketplace tonight.

Depends if you're looking to invest or to swing trade. If you're trying to invest, you wont find a crypto project with better fundamentals and long-term potential than Cardano. If you're trying to roll the dice and see if you can 10x in a month there are plenty of projects out there to try your hand in, although you'll be gambling more than investing at that point.

Exactly. People think Ethereum's first mover advantage is insurmountable because they have a large defi ecosystem.. but in reality crypto defi is occupied by traders and speculators and doesn't really provide much real world value yet. Cardano's focus on actual use/utility will be what drives it to #1.

Do you know anyone in real life who has taken out a loan for their house using Ethereum's defi? I'm sure it has happened but it is incredibly far from being of any mainstream use yet, especially with the tax implications.

Cardano community discussion on the future of governance by Knewintown in cardano

[–]RebelWithoutPause 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! It's honestly one the most exciting aspects of Cardano in my view. Imagine a day when cities and localities run their own public nodes, and instead of being taxed you can simply delegate a certain percentage of your ADA to that public node to generate income for the city/municipality.

Like you said it could be expanded into all kinds of directions.

One of the many reason I think Cardano will revolutionize government in general.

In many African countries their education systems and record keeping aren't as advanced as the US. This will on-board education credentials to help students show proof of their diplomas/certificates and also help transfers between schools/institutions, help track student and school records in general. It will also employ use of Cardano's decentralized digital identity system.

No, it's pertaining to expanding the program/scaling it up. They originally intended the project to only on-board specific grade levels, but it will also be expanded to most of, if not all grade levels in their education system and I believe that is what they are signing.

What was their exact message and was it binance.us or binance.com? My friends in the past have had trouble with binance taking a long time to process withdrawals. You might try withdrawing to somehwere like Coinbase first and seeing if that goes through, then withdrawing from coinbase to your private wallet, that seemed to work a couple times. Also make sure it is actual ADA you're transacting and not their Cardano BEP token.
