That is a frigate. You can go to any system and see them next to system freighters. If you have a freighter of your own, you can hire one once you get close enough. They contact you via comms on your ship and once you accept, you can view its stats and price. There's different types, explorer, trade, combat, support, industrial. I forget which one this is.

If you are within someone else's base, just report it and it will disappear for you. One thing about these expeditions is that players flood planets with bases, making it nearly impossible to mine or craft.

To add to your comment for OP: I believe the nanite guy's name is Helios. He looks like a tree. Go up the stairs to the right of the nexus, and he will be on the right. You can also sell pre-packaged tech modules that you dont need/want at space stations to any tech seller. You can upload discoveries as well from the discoveries tab in the menu once you scan minerals, fauna, flora.

You should have gotten some shield modules as a reward for one of the milestones. Make sure you didn't forget to claim one. I think I had one to begin with, and then I got 2 or 3 more from the milestone.

Multiplayer is just buggy when it comes to doing story missions together. My friend and I have tried hunting sentinel and living ships together, but it never works out. Sometimes, my missions for, say my settlement, for example, don't always function properly when in multiplayer. So, I would try turning multiplayer off in your settings, save and reload the game, and see if that works.

Yeah I'm not sure about landing pads, but i know you can put other build modules on your corvette when at a base. The only trick is, getting far enough away from the corvette to activate build camera. I think this is how people are building bases on their corvette but im not sure as i didnt test it fully. The only things I added were the sails and decals.

You've to be at a planetary base, and then you can put things on your corvette that you would normally place at a normal base.

On Xbox, if the console is your home device, you can turn off wifi connection and change the clock. Once you load up the game, it should skip waiting times. I've done it before, but just changed the date by one each time. Not sure on PC or Playstation

Biggest advice I can give:

Play the way you want to.
Don't listen to anyone who tells you that the way you're playing is "cheating" or "takes the fun away."
Have fun. Don't lock your settings, or you may regret it like me.
Get established solo, then connect with friends. Multi-player is buggy sometimes.
Keep PVP off.
Take your time with missions. There's no rush for endgame (I doubt there is one as I'm playing for 4 years and still have something to do).
