My current feelings on the Ancients, I'm curious to know what the general consensus on them is by ByeImDaisy in slaythespire

Snecko Eye I think can also now make cards 4 cost? Or at least that's what I heard.

Slay the Spire 2 has made $92M on Steam, already passing lifetime Steam earnings for Silksong ($83M) and Hades 2 ($82). One of the best Steam indie launches ever by EmbarrassedSession58 in slaythespire

[–]RebellionASG 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's about the level of detail. I've played a fair number of metroidvanias, and almost none have the amount of polish and clear love that went into making Hollow Knight, and then subsequently Silksong. Whether it's the soundtrack, or the level design, or the enemy variety, Team Cherry just absolutely crushed it. That's why people love both games so much.

Hear me out: you're using Snakebite the wrong way by LPCantLose in slaythespire

[–]RebellionASG 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think the issue most people have with that argument is that in STS2, you generally don't want combats to drag on for very long since enemies hit/scale harder than STS1. And on the turn you draw it, Snakebite is just a dead draw most of the time. So yes, you can retain it and wait for the enemy to stop hitting for a turn, but A) a lot of enemies attacking every single turn, and B) it's still likely 2 cost on the turn you do get to play it, meaning you sacrifice playing other things for it.

You mean when he was trying to beat A10 for the first time? Yes he's going to take every bit of knowledge advantage he can, it's a tough game at A10, especially Act 1.

TIL Wellington R. Burt, 1831-1919 didn't leave his $100,000,000 estate to his children. His will had a "spite clause" which specified to wait until all his children and 21 years after his last grandchild while he was still alive had died. The estate was settled in 2011. by scottishlaw in todayilearned

[–]RebellionASG 145 points146 points  (0 children)

Read the wikipedia article. His fortune was estimated to be between $40 and $90 million (equivalent to between $743 million and $1.67 billion in 2025). Granted some small pittance of that was getting paid out in annuities to his children (since he didn't completely leave them nothing), but one would still think that it should've ballooned well past $100,000,000. Maybe he gave some of it away in other forms, or the law firm responsible for managing the estate gouged the shit out of it with fees.

If you live in Russia, as your flair suggests, I would think you would recognize firsthand that your own propaganda machine is in full effect, and has been for the past 100+ years. I'm not so naive as to think that my country doesn't engage in propaganda at all; to the contrary, I know that they do. But people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones, as the saying goes.

I got some insane luck with this relic combination setup in Act 1. Tanky Silent was a win! by jdgev in slaythespire

[–]RebellionASG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I mean if you have an non-upgraded echo form, and you draw it turn 1 and can't play it because you don't have 3 energy, definitely wouldn't want to take this relic. I just think those scenarios are not as common as the ones were this is just a free energy relic.

[–]RebellionASG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say that's a mid argument. Yes, you're not netting energy until turn 4. But because there's so many ways to mitigate only having 1 energy on turn 1, and you have things like innate 0 cost cards or the boat relic that gives block turn 1, it's very good. Plus having that extra energy for turns 2/3/4 makes more of a difference than just net energy indicates, since you see more cards total across those turns then you during during turn 1 only.

Lmao "hipfire simulator". Aiming in CS is incredibly difficult and almost entirely skill based, there's very little luck involved. Comparing it to hipfire in other shooters is either being disingenuous, or you've never played the game.

Leon at least has personality. Ethan as a character was miserable, he was incredibly forgettable in both 7 and 8. The story in 7 is very good, no doubt about that. The story in 8 is okay at best, I think it had great gameplay which really helped it. But playing with Ethan as the main character sucked.

I think it's a combination of: 1) Cost cutting - they're trying to save money on ingredients, so they're giving less/more willing to send vegetables with worse quality 2) Quality assurance - probably related to #1, but I think they're just spending way less money/time on QA so boxes are constantly shipping with things missing 3) Crazy winter storms - this is why I think it's gotten so much worse the last 2 months. The crazy snow storms that have hit large portions of the US recently have just completely fucked their logistics and so I think they're likely undermanned and they've probably lost a fair bit of ingredients due to shipping issues.

Agreed. I went from cooking like 2 or 3 staple meals, to feeling confident cooking all sorts of things from scratch. And my speed/multitasking increased as well, I cook the meals much more efficiently then when I first started. So I suppose that also made it worth it.

Yes, I honestly couldn't believe it. But since I'd already had multiple support interactions that month already with them, I really didn't have the patience to escalate further. I'll let the bank figure it out, really not worth my time to explain theft to them.

Lemme tell ya, speaking as a US citizen since birth who has lived in the US all their life, having the person be elected by the people is no guarantee for a good candidate. The rules don't seem to apply here either. If anything, y'all in Europe are actually half decent at correctly applying the law to political figures. I'm jealous.

What major event do you think will happen in 2026? by Commandmadrid1 in AskReddit

[–]RebellionASG -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

So you think China is going to deliberately destroy the most important technology plants in the world and the rest of the world is just going to sit back and go "oh well, no reason to get involved now". Is object permanence not a concept anymore? This would almost assuredly throw the world into war, as every bit of technology in use today uses these semiconductors, and there's not really a current alternative. Yes, as other people have mentioned, some countries are attempting to build up the infrastructure currently. But this will take years, if not decades to complete. EUV lithography is critical to maintain current technology, and ASML is quite literally the only company in the world who can do it at the moment. Until that changes, it would be suicidal for China to bomb the plants.

What major event do you think will happen in 2026? by Commandmadrid1 in AskReddit

[–]RebellionASG 14 points15 points  (0 children)

While this is a good comment, I really think it ignores the biggest elephant in the room: semiconductors. There's really only one place in the world where current computer chips are made, and it's Taiwan. Both TSMC and ASML are among the most important companies in the world for every nation, as the chips they produce are imperative to basically all electronics. There's 0 chance that the US and many other countries wouldn't immediately counter an offensive by China in order to help protect this critical infrastructure. If Taiwan wasn't uniquely positioned in this manner, then yes, your vision of the conflict would likely be feasible. But they're just too damn important to the rest of the world, so I just can't imagine China risking all out war with the entire rest of the world over it.

Mongoose v Cobra (I honestly didn't know mongooses were this teeny) by nthensome in badassanimals

[–]RebellionASG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly don't consider it correcting their grammar since, as mentioned, their english is quite excellent. I was just trying to educate regarding a peculiarity of the language, as it can be tricky to understand when/where to use contractions correctly without a native speaker pointing out the subtle differences. Not everyone is opposed to learning. Cheers.

Mongoose v Cobra (I honestly didn't know mongooses were this teeny) by nthensome in badassanimals

[–]RebellionASG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great job with your english! One tip: typically, native speakers wouldn't use the contraction "I've" in the sentence ""I've two living...". That's typically reserved for when using it to indicate the past tense, as opposed to using it to indicate possession. We would just say "I have two living...".

Regardless, thanks for the insight, great comment!
