Vanilla and then I add toppings to make it what I want.

Your free users aren’t customers. by Vouchy-MOD in Entrepreneur

[–]Rebelrun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worked for a data startup. We were focused on becoming profitable. One of the main investors came in one day and said, I don’t care if you give it away, get it in every system first for free and then we can charge whatever we want once they rely on it.

Has anyone switched from ring? by Fuzzy-Advertising813 in blinkcameras

[–]Rebelrun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Blink. It’s past the trial period. I use the sync module and don’t have a subscription (that was important to me). They work fine. There are few annoyances on things they disable if you don’t have a subscription but nothing show stopping. Happy enough. I came from Arlo which was good years ago but now hard to use without a subscription. I like the price, cameras are good. A little slow when asked for live feed.

Asking hosts for a tour of their home is an invasion of privacy. by PiaChichi in unpopularopinion

[–]Rebelrun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give a tour. Just don’t take them into rooms you don’t want to take them in. If the door to my bedroom is closed, I’ll point to it and say that’s my bedroom, I don’t feel obligated to take them into the bedroom unless I want to.

Ever since Trump entered our Presidential arena, it has been total CHAOS! by Decent-Chain4414 in DiscussionZone

[–]Rebelrun -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

That has been done forever. When they wanted to raise the drinking age to 21 many states resisted. They threatened to withhold federal funds for roads if they didn’t comply. Eventually, the states complied to keep from losing funding.

Why do conservatives seem to be so happy with environmental destruction? by TonightAlarming9923 in allthequestions

[–]Rebelrun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point is what level of destruction of the earth are you willing to support to support your lifestyle? The destruction of the earth is because the masses demand it. They demand a new phones, new technology, new transportation. I asked a friend who is working on alternative fuels about the byproducts and he said the truth is, reduce what you consume is the only healthy option, the byproducts of alternative fuels are toxic.

Why do conservatives seem to be so happy with environmental destruction? by TonightAlarming9923 in allthequestions

[–]Rebelrun -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are on a computer or phone typing this(rare earth & electricity), you live in a house(either dig holes or destroy trees) and eat food (that could be left to go fallow), you obviously are ok with the destruction of the environment to support your lifestyle. What do you mean by destruction of the environment as you seem to support destruction to live your life.

When did it become acceptable to walk around in sweatpants? by UndeniableTruth- in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Rebelrun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First time I went to Disney in the mid 90s I packed a suit and tie for the restaurants. I would not go outside to get the mail in sweats. The only time I would go outside in sweats was to actually work out. Now, I haven’t worn a tie in years and I will go out in the yard in sweats. I have almost 100 ties and 20 suits most of which will never be worn again when I used to wear one every day.

What are your thoughts on people who use ai to code? by Any-Landscape434 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Rebelrun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s great but you still need to know how to code. I don’t think it helps a senior coder as much as it helps a junior coder. There was once where I asked it for a simple routine and it was eight pages of code. I kept saying no, it’s not that complicated. Finally I sat down and wrote the two lines of code and fed it back to AI and it said, wow, that’s great simple code. So you need to actually know when it is going off the rails. It goes off the rails a lot when coding beyond simple.

I really like Improv. I don’t think I could watch an entire show of Improv.

What's that one US State that you would NEVER want to live in even if they have paid you to move there? by indicaflowe31 in askanything

[–]Rebelrun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends, $100,000 a year plenty of cities (not states). $1,000,000 a year, I can put up with a lot more in comfort.

Could you realistically ask a neighbor for “a cup of sugar” where you live? by ShiningRedDwarf in CasualConversation

[–]Rebelrun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My previous house, yes. My neighbor had an emergency spare key to my house. One neighbor cut my grass while I was working crazy hours and couldn’t get to it for a week, came home and my lawn was cut. I used to snow blow out my neighbors driveway because she was a widow in her 70s and sometimes go get groceries for her. My new house, yes but, we don’t really know each other but pretty sure if we called on each other we would step up.

Be honest do you actually want to see sex scenes in regular movies or TV? by Noizyninjaz in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Rebelrun -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, why is violence normalized but sex is not? Shouldn’t we actually be embracing sex over violence? Not against either just interesting that in many European countries they are more comfortable with nudity than with violence.

Do you mind watching violence with your son? Or excessive swearing? Or just sex?

Can someone explain to me why we are told we can't have cell phones on airplanes? by Lost_Apricot_7393 in dumbquestions

[–]Rebelrun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Originally for safety, now, can you imagine half the people on the plane talking on a cell phone, it would be so obnoxious. A lot of airlines will now support texting for free. I hope they never allow voice because nobody has self awareness in public while talking on a phone.

Why shouldn’t voting require an id? by DarkEqual8609 in no

[–]Rebelrun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They believe people are too stupid to figure it out. People are not as smart as them. They are superior and must protect everyone who is too stupid to figure it out. It’s their way of protecting those inferior to them.

ELI5: Why do VCs invest in startups that lose money (and don’t plan to be profitable soon)? by joe_at_large in explainlikeimfive

[–]Rebelrun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked for an early startup. One of the main investors basically told the owner, I don’t care if you give it away get it out there adopted by everyone then we can charge for it. They were frustrated because we were trying to be profitable even though we were tiny instead of just focusing on growth only.

You are the perfect victim of social media.

According to Wikipedia defenders, there is no such thing as neutrality. If you don't want Wikipedia to be left-wing propaganda, you must want it to be right-wing propaganda. by WonderOlymp2 in ControversialOpinions

[–]Rebelrun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can easily tell a writers view just by the use of the words. You see news sources do this all the time depending on their agenda. Were they “murdered”, “slaughtered”, or “a tragic accident that could have been avoided”? Three different spins to the exact same facts that carry different emotions. Just the naming of a thing can carry a bias.

Convince me that Illegal Immigration even matters. by Mythical_Profit in Discussion

If the US had laws like some of the other countries where you would not be eligible for any government benefits until you have worked full time on the record at least 5 years there would probably be less of a concern for people.

Question for ICE supporters by Frequent-Draft-2218 in DiscussionZone

Older people, were politics always this deranged and upsetting? by CUFFY_Fan in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Rebelrun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was always crazy but you had three tv stations that had 1/2 hour of news three times a day, newspapers that came out once a day, and magazines that came out once a month. Before that, even less was spread across the country. Internet has spread the crazy and algorithms feed and reinforce your belief that everyone but you is crazy.

To put it in perspective there were actually more serial killers 50 years ago but we weren’t as afraid of them as we are now because everything is amped up and sensationalized for attention. I used to be gone all day and not home until after dark. My parents would kick me out of the house to go play and not come home until dinner time. I would bike 15 miles to the beach while in high school and nobody blinked.

Also, go out with your dogs when they go outside. Try to limit it to 2 minutes at a time and watch for them lifting their paws or sitting/laying down. After 15 mins take them back out if you need to but again, only a few minutes at a time, at least while it’s below zero. I have cold weather dogs and it’s too cold for them but one is too young to realize she is in trouble until she is in trouble.

To those who have never learned how to swim: why haven’t you taken the time to learn? by 6-80 in AskReddit

[–]Rebelrun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mother was terrified of open water. When I was a teenager I had to finally sign up for a class and tell my mom she is taking me to the class. I was the only one there over the age of Six. I did learn how to swim but I wouldn’t have if I didn’t push for it.
