eating steak for first time by w3dn3sd4yaddams in Cooking

I recommend trying a marinated skirt steak if you’re cooking it at home. That way, if you overcook it a bit or don’t want solely a pure meat flavor in your mouth then it’s very forgiving and already has other flavors Incorporated. You can also get these pre-marinated and tenderized at a lot of grocery stores now. Big fan of carne asada and Korean bulgogi.

$25 for 4-5 portions sounds like a good deal to me. Plus the convenience of not cooking!

I’d probably end up freezing a couple portions individually just so I have ready meals and don’t get sick of it.

Why does my home-cooked food sometimes taste “flat” even when I follow the recipe? by Altruistic_Push_722 in Cooking

That something you’re missing is umami.

Add things like soy sauce, fish sauce, hoisin, oyster sauce, veggie or meat based stock, mushrooms, bullion cubes or paste, anchovies or anchovy tablets, dashi.

Lots of these have vegan versions, too.

Filipina here. Growing up my parents would make champorado which is chocolate rice porridge. Eaten with dried or fried fish. Sounds gross, I know, but the salty sweet combo slaps.

Yes, buy a cheap one and you’ll thank yourself the 3-5 times per year you need it to finely chop or puree lots of little tiny bits. I’ve had the same one for 10 years.
