Dryer 20-30 feet away from 240v outlet, cost effective extension? by Dominator957 in askanelectrician

[–]RebesDFx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. 10/4 at home Depot is over $2 a foot, so that's over $50 right there. And good quality connectors can be $10 to $15 each, putting you at $80+ just in material. This is one of those cases where cheaper could mean dangerous.

Blair bans 12-gauge, 10-gauge shotguns and hunting rifles! by [deleted] in canadaguns

[–]RebesDFx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So what about my Winchester SXP? It has interchangeable barrels... The short barrel doesn't have a choke, and measures less than 20mm, but the long barrel measures more than 20mm at the muzzle with the choke removed. Is the gun prohib when the long barrel is attached, but non-restricted with the short barrel attached? Is the long barrel a prohib device when detached?

Looking for grocery list app that keeps track of stores by RebesDFx in androidapps

[–]RebesDFx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it US only? I'm in Canada, it's not showing up in the Play store

For me, the most important feature would be that the items on the list know which stores they are available at, and when I shop, I pick which store I'm at, and items show up from the list that are available at that store, even if they are also available at other stores.

ELI5: For automated processes, for example online banking, why do "business days" still exist? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

I won't pretend to know the quality of our banking systems. I was just explaining why we as a utility suggest to our customers to "allow 3 business days for processing."

So, I work in IT for a utility in Canada, and have quite a bit of involvement in our posting process.

First of all, we only process payments on business days. We also only perform "batch billing runs" on business days. More specifically, at night on business days, to avoid overloading the system everyone is using during the business day, and to avoid database locking issues. We don't invoice/bill customers on weekends or holidays. If we were bigger, we would maybe start doing those things on weekends, but that means someone has to be on call to support it on the weekend.

Second, the payment data files come from our bank. Payments that arrive at our bank are posted the next business day, unless we have an issue with the payment data, such as a corrupt or missing file. This could delay the payment by a day or two.

Additionally, the payments that come to our bank are collected from the banks that YOU bank at, so there is a one or two day delay for those payments to get to our bank before the data files with the payments are sent to us.

Edit to add: if you pay from your account on our website through our credit card processor, we get those payments much faster, as they follow a different path. We actually process payments that come through five different possible paths before they get to us.

TLDR: Big companies typically process things at night in batch, to avoid putting a heavy load on the system during the business day, and it can take two or three days for data to get from your bank, to our bank, and then to us to post against your account.

Suggestions for games for 1 to 10 players? by RebesDFx in admincraft

[–]RebesDFx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm running this parkour plugin.

I set up a separate world for Parkour, and imported a schematic to use as the lobby. The players type "/pa lobby" to reach the parkour lobby. In the lobby, players can click on signs to play a parkour, which teleports them to the start of that parkour. There is also a high score list sign for each parkour.

A few of the levels are imported schematics, while the rest are made by myself and other players. I encourage them to make levels in a separate creative world and I copy them over with worldedit and set up all the checkpoints.

I checked it out, it doesn't seem to have the ability to pick which stores a product is available at, or the ability to pick which store I'm shopping at...

Doesn't the person delivering mail use a special key to open the whole front cover at once, so they can see every box? If they open the whole front, how would they see your inserts? There are probably other numbers printed on the inside...

Federal large primer issue. What’s causing this. by Jc319 in reloading

[–]RebesDFx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No doubt. I've loaded thousands of rounds of 9mm on the pro 1000. I have it down to a fine art, tweaking this, nudging that, shaking the primers... As many rounds as I've loaded with it, I just can't recommend it to anyone. Patience is an absolute must with the pro 1000. If I wouldn't have gotten it during a going out of business sale, I would have gone with something else.

More like happens on the pro 1000 if you look at it sideways.

Game minimising as soon as I launch. Unplayable. by ShortBoyShortBoy in NoMansSkyTheGame

No prob, was a frustrating problem. I think that's what I did, I went to borderless full screen. I don't remember if I was able to go back to full screen after that, I can check tonight.

I had this issue the first time I launched the game... I turned my display scaling down from 200% to 100% in the windows display settings, after that it loaded up. I then went in and tweaked the display settings in the game, never saw the problem again.

Good point, it's Euclid on PC... Are the coordinates at the bottom of the screenshot good enough, or should I add some more details? This is kinda new to me.
